Spotted one of those new Connies in Air France colors sitting on the ramp. Sleek ship!

Edit: Like Willy, the screenie proggy I use shows the location. I never look at these until after each flight but from now on will toggle off that feature.

Announcing the immediate departure for Atar (GQPA).

TOW: 88,799 lbs
Payload: 19,940 lbs

Note: Getting this flight in will be dicey. Real world might scuttle the effort. See how it goes...

Note 2: Took off with wrong flightplan. Restarting with correct one.

Arrived safe in Dakar. Drifted a little south of SLO NDB but no worries as I just had to follow the coastline down.

Refreshing not to have that headwind gremlin on my nose for a change!

Landing Weight: 76,761 lbs
Fuel Used: 4801 lbs

More photos-

Excited couple on their way to Afican safari and the 'ol girl resting on the ramp in the midday sun. (We leave the doors open for ventilation as needed).

Going for the big hop over the pond. Departing for Recife (SBRF). See you all in 6-7 hours or so hopefully.

TOW: 98,701 lbs
Payload: 15,000 lbs

Well, I'm 6.5 hrs in and about 35 min overdue on Noronha NDB. Likely guess is that I have drifted too far south to pick up signal. Good thing I thought to chart all NDB's 250 miles north and south of Recife. Enough fuel to hit the Brazil coast. Let's see where I end up...

Thanks. 7.5 hrs now and nothing but endless ocean. I have been very careful since the start. Can't figure out what happend. Have 2-2.5 hrs fuel left.

Edit: Going to track W/NW from here. Have a feeling I went waaaay south.

Got a hit! Been rotating NDBs and just picked up 355H at Aracaju. Yikes did I drift south!:kilroy:

And there is the coastline. What a beautiful sight.

I told the passengers we had to divert to avoid a possible hurricane brewing up off Natal and Recife. They bought it.:engel016:

We'll keep the Kellet on standby just in case.... ;)

Oh and we'll send the bill to AOA main offices... :d

Finally down at SBAR.

Landing Weight: 73,821 lbs
Fuel Used: 24,878 lbs

1 hr penalty for landing at unprepared airport.

Thanks. Just glad the adventure ended safely. Personally I think one of those PanAm boys disabled the NDB and VOR...

The passengers were not happy having to take a long bus ride up north. To be honest I'm just glad they are not our concern anymore.

We have been trying to contact our S. American AOA office in getting some avgas trucked up here from Salvador. Might be stuck here a bit.

For a slight fee, Merc Air could fly a Lancastrian tanker up with enough fuel to get you to your next destination. Only $10 a gallon ;)

The tanker arrived at dawn. Saddling up for Rio (SBRJ).

TOW: 85,398 lbs
Payload: 19,940 lbs

Down safe in Rio. Much welcomed uneventful flight.

Landing Weight: 76,854 lbs
Fuel Used: 8541 lbs

8 Commercial Centers accounted for: (EGLL, LFPB, LIML, LFMN, LPPT, GMMC, GOOY, SBRJ)

Arrived at SBSP. Viz went to heck about 20 miles out. The airport kind of snuck up on us and we had to go around once.

Fuel Used: 2473 lbs

9 Commercial Centers off the board (added SBSP)
