Moveable VC eyepoint in CFS2

All FS users know in the virtual cockpit also than just panning you can also move the eyepoint by pressing keys such as Ctrl+Del, Shift+Enter, etc.., But in CFS2 you can only use the hat switch to pan view. Is there any way of changing the eyepoint, if not a mod that allows it. I would love to explore a B-17 rather than being stuck in the skippers seat,

Jack

In the aircraft folder: make a backup copy of the aircraft.cfg file. Then open the aircraft.cfg file. find the section

[views]
eyepoint=
the three numbers refer to the three dimensions, measured in feet from the centre of gravity.
first is fore/aft, second is left/right, third is up/down.
negative numbers and positive numbers can be used.
trial and error will give your result.

you have to restart the game for the new changes to take effect.

Well, also...if you enable tracking (using this ~ `) key it will bracket and track an aircraft, ground, or ship object, thereby changing your view.

OK, I understand better:

I set up the following keys in controller assignemnents
Pan left = ctrl+7
Pan right = cntrl+9
pand down = ctrl+8
pan up = ctrl+5

with this system I can easily pan around whether in the VC or outside the aircraft.

good luck

In the panel.cfg file you can create different "views" and map them to keyboard keys.

Here is the Views section form my B24.

[VIEWS]
view_forward_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL
VIEW_FORWARD_ZOOM=0.5
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.6,0,0

VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_WINDOWS=36
VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_EYE=0.645,-1.49,4.07 // Chin Gunner
VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_UP_DIR=0,0,0

VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_WINDOWS=35
VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_EYE=-0.186,-1.05,2.90 // Front Left Gunner
VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_UP_DIR=0,0,325

VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_EYE=0.415,-0.935,3.095 //Nose
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_UP_DIR=0,0,0

VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=33
VIEW_REAR_EYE=0.41,0.1,-15.8 // Tail Gunner

VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_EYE=0.38,-2.80,-8.8 //Lower Ball Gunner
VIEW_REAR_LEFT_UP_DIR=180,180,0 // 180,180,0

You can also create "window sections" and have Panels with other views.
Like these....

[Fixed Window33]
file=taildraw1.bmp
window_size_ratio=1.00
position=7
visible=0
ident=33
render_3d_window=1
nomenu=1
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

[Fixed Window40]
file=wastegun1.bmp
size_mm=640,480
position=7
visible=0
ident=40
render_3d_window=1
nomenu=1
window_size= 1.000, 1.000
window_pos= 0.000, 0.000

Once you go to that view using an assigened key you can also then toggle into VC view from that "Station"

Hope this helps,

Can you Make it so every time you change view (F4) you go to the new position? Or do you have to restart CFS2 Every time you want to change viewpoint.

Jack

Hi Jack

I assign keys on the "Ten Key Pad" for the different views. ie. number 4 for left waist gun "view rear left" and number 6 for right waist gun "view rear right". Then just hit the key and you are there.

Hope this helps,
B24Guy

Does this allow you to pan with the hat switch, or is it fixed?

Jack

Hi Jack,

Yes, once you have relocated you can pan around.

Regards,
B24Guy

When you finish your Liberator, make it like that as stock, It will be the Best around. B-24D! Cant wait for that "Green-House" Visability in the nose,
