Moving to Sanibel Island....

I've decided to leave TN, and move to Sanibel Island, FL. My sister bought a house, and wants me to live there. There's just too many positive aspects to ignore, so I am going to do it.

It will take me some time though. The housing market is, to put it mildly, not good. But I will price my property to sell, and am sure it will. Am only taking two of my four cats, plus Chief with me. Buster will go to my ex's place to live, but am beginning the process of trying to find a new home for Smidget. She needs to go to a home where she's the only pet. That would be ideal. She just doesn't like other cats. But she would be a great pet to someone. I love her, but just cannot take her to Florida. I had to do some convincing to get my sis to allow me to bring Twist and Robert!

Anyway, I hope to maybe get moved by this Fall.

Oh, my sis won't be living there full time; just me! She lives in Indy! This way, I get to live in "paradise", and take care of the place for her!

The Sanibel light house was the front of our Xmas cards last year.The wife took a great shot...
I am only 1 1/2 hours North,so maybe when you move in we can have a beer or two...You know a house warming......

Oh yes, I know about the toll bridge. My sis bought an annual pass (much cheaper...only $2 to cross the bridge, vs $6!). But I won't be making the bridge crossing all that often. I'll make grocery runs, etc.....occasionally. Already found out there's a doc on the island that takes my health insurance, which is cool, and is accepting new patients. That's a biggie.

As for the brewskies, you bet!!!

Yes, and the max speed limit on Sanibel is 35! They even managed to keep McDonald's off of the island. It is pristine.

Congratulations..I live not far from there...beautiful,.one of the better BONEYARDS...today and this week,weather superb,fishing,flying,golf,great...but soon the oppersive HEAT comes,along with our quiant tourest Non attraction..Hurricans...Good news is SNOW BIRDS TAKE OFF,bad news is I STAY!,In our Refrigerated house!!...We have a little dog, we live on water,so do Gators,...like ALIGATORS?..yes we also have the Gator great football team.....most here are mid westerners..Interstate 75,direct..Great folk!.But being an Ole Nor'eastner! well a language barrier exists!...a new interesting immigrant here, are the Giant Pythons..lovely creatures, that can spoil yer whole day...I hope I'm not sounding negative about FLA,.HEAVEN FOR FEND!!.its just I HATE THE PLACE.....they tell me Winter is almost over,Spring on the way,followed by Summer,and then fall..trouble is it all looks alike...only difference its the HOT season,and the HURRICANE season....I feel to have lived this long ,the prospect of winding up on my roof,if one is left,flagging a Helicopter,with my drawers, on National TV,or being called Lefty,after shooing a Gator off my yard.!.....is a bit much..to accept!.Please my friend,I mean you no ill will, however if I knew now ,what I did not know then ,I would not be here...YELLOWKNIFE is more appealing...at least to me...Seriously,Good Luck watch the Sun,Skin Doctors are all over ,I suggest you garb yer self like a Desert Bedouin ,covered head to toe..well CHEERS TO YA!..in yer lawn lounge,watch yer back..for Varmints live here...I will leave the Traffic for you to explore....."T" bone heaven here!..all the drivers are OLD,man really old!....sorry bad day in the Bone yard.too much great weather!.TICK,TOCK,TICK,TOCK!

I am not much into sun worship. Matter of fact, I LIVE in the airconditioning in the summer. When the temps get up there, I go inside, period. The thing is, my sister is darn near providing me a place to live, almost rent-free. Her house has 5 bedrooms, a pool, hot tub, AND and elevator Sorta hard to turn that offer down!!!! I plan to make use of the bike paths on Sanibel too, vs driving that much.

Ah, Sanibel! Great place for shell collecting! Chief will love the warm water! I went there MANY years ago ('74-'75) when there was NOTHING there. Good luck with the move. Just one thing ..... rehearse the get-away path just incase one of those big hurricanes wants to drop in on you!

Sanibel Island! I have been there, beautiful beaches. I remember collecting shells on the beach. My beach plastic pail were full of different kinds of shells, I know I kept it somewhere. I love that place, Sanibel is near Ft. Myers, we go there all the time. I think the other island is Captiva something? When we go to the beach, I am my Mom's little navigator, I check the map and the GPS system, I instruct her where to turn, I am learning to be a good navigator, This year, I wish we will visit Sanibel or Captiva again. Hannah.
