Ms.760 Paris Jet?

What's the problem Ed? You looked like you were doing OK and just needed to finish the tanks and canopy (you won't be able to paint the canopy exactly like the real thing though due to the glass transparency and the fact the blinds are part of the model).
The gold stripes did me in. Trying to get them to look correct, at the right thickness and taper correctly. . .I just got fed up messing with it. It took me a bunch of tries even when I did that repaint for Ito's Paris jet. . . .too much of a hassle and there are too many talented FSX artists out there that can produce these repaints much faster and better quality than anything I can do.

Hmmmm....OK...a convincing gold is always a difficult thing to get in a paint program. I will have to revist Chris B's excellent tutorial he put up on here and maybe give it a go myself.

No, it wasn't the color, I had that easily, it was just getting the flow of it to look right from the thin taper at the nose then maintaining an even thickness over the wing root and than tapering again up to the vertical stab. It just wasn't working.

Ahhh OK...yes they can be a bit tricky. The trick to that is to use vector graphics and especially bezier curves. I would be lost without my 'pen' tool in PS.

It would appear that scheme has had two different registrations too. I just found this shot of N760JS with the same 'Jet Set' scheme but in this shot the gold lining looks more silver. There aren't many decent shots of that scheme around on the net unfortunately, I have only found about six in my extensive searches.

If you want that scheme I can give it a go for you if you like.

Yea, you'd think after spending 30 years as a graphic artist, this little piddly stuff wouldn't be a big deal. Guess I don't have the patience I used to have. I use PSP 8 and the bezier curve is what I was working with, I just couldn't get it to look the way I wanted.

I have a short list of five civvy paints now...I guess I am going to be busy painting Paris Jets for a while. :icon_lol:

Hello ryanbatc,

you can download the electra
at simviation
http://www.simviation.com/simviation/?type=item&ID=61&page=25
or at flightsim
http://www.flightsim.com/file.php?cm=SEARCH1&fsec=0&fname=L-188_ELECTRA_X.ZIP
Extract from L_L188.CAB the files with a name beginning by Attitude (12 files, 11 .BMP and 1 XML).
Take these files and put them into MS-760.CAB.
Now you have to change the lines in your panel.cfg

gauge00=MS-760!ahi, 380,828,186,177

and

gauge02=MS-760!ahi, 405,6,100,100

respectively
into
gauge00=MS-760!Attitude Indicator, 380,828,186,177
and
gauge02=MS-760!Attitude Indicator, 405,6,100,100

In fact you simply replace ahi by Attitude Indicator nothing more to change.

I think it's clear

Thanks but I'm having trouble copying that bmp file into the .cab file. I use winzip and I cannot get it in there. Do you have to extract the entire cab file then re complile it with the new file?

I just uploaded the following repaint so it should be available within the next 24 hours once the Admins clear it.

Enjoy!

To add to a cab file you do need to 'de-cab' it first, then
're-cab' it after you make changes.

Alternativey, you can just leave the de-cab'ed files in a
folder of the same name and place that in the panel folder.

FSX searches for gauges in the folder before it resorts
to looking in cab files.

Yeah the de-cabbing part got me confused. How do you do that?

I just woke up at my desk and realised this was here...:icon_lol:
Downloading now, will give her a whirl tonight!
Thankyou Tim! Thankyou Tim! Thankyou Tim!

Interesting nose and canopy mods.
Doublecool,
The old attitude indicator was the one that was off, so I replaced it with one that I could get aligned. Also redid how I tex'd the polys. Maybe simply try inserting a different gauge? Did that make any sense?

In FSX one can do anything!

Thanks for the reply Piglet, it looks like some good folks have been working on the a new attitude indicator :kilroy:

Many Thanks

I use PKZip or PowerArchiver 2000. Any program that extracts .zip files should
do the trick.

To 're-cab', there is a program in the FSX SDK under
"SimObject Creation", "CabDir SDK".

How does this look Ed?

I played with the gold stripe in the spec layer so it changes colour as the sun hits it now and I am also totally reworking the interior as I felt such a classy outside needed an inside to match. ;)

It will be a day or so before it's ready to upload, lots of copying and pasting stuff to do so I can add layers under the knobs, switches and gauges. :isadizzy:

Yep, really well done Larry. I agree on the interior. . .it does need some updating to match the fancy exterior. Thanks for doing these two they are great additions to this beautiful airplane.
