YIKES how much???

No thanks. I'm sticking with FSX & FS2004 highly modified......

My FS2020 has always been on Steam. However, I set up a game-pass with monthly subscription to first try FS2024. Now that I've decided to keep FS2024, I face a choice. Do I go back to Steam, or stay with the X-box platform? And if I just purchase it on Xbox, will it overwrite all my settings created during the month-by-month "trial"? If anyone else took this circuitous route into FS2024, I would appreciate your feedback as I don't want to keep paying monthly.

FS2024 is also on sale on the Microsoft Store, if that's where you had 2020 and you want to keep your entitlements.

@vipgroup, if you purchase FS2024 after having used it on Game Pass, it will keep your existing install, settings, etc. It just changes the "entitlement" from requiring Game Pass to load to you actually owning the simulation.

Thank you..

The aircraft’s that are included in the Aviator bundle have interested in upgrading to the Aviator.
But are they worth it, being original 2020 models?

Which ones are you interested in? Many of the included 2020 models still have issues in 2024 so the Aviator edition likely isnt worth it.

I have the Aviator version, and I regret it a bit, but not much. As thomas_mac said, a lot of the 2020 planes are problematic in 2024, but many work well.

The ones that work well for me are:
  • AN-225
  • Bonanza V35
  • Model 17 Staggerwing
  • Model 18 Twin Beech
  • Bell 47J
  • Cessna 195
  • Cessna 207T
  • DHC4 Caribou
  • Ford Trimotor
  • Mitzubishi MU-2
  • Westland Scout/Wasp

The rest have various issues. One (the AN-2) has very serious issues with the startup and flight dynamics. Overall, though, if you're really interested in the planes above, they'd cost you around $100 to buy individually. So, while it's irritating that some don't work and many have problems, I think the price is fair. On the other hand, with so many fantastic 2024-native planes out there (I end up flying Black Square's offerings more than anything else), the money might be better spent on those.

As someone who has advised people not to buy the Aviator Edition previously, last weekend MS announced that ALL of these planes would eventually be updated to native FS2024.

They announced these will be coming along with SU5:

* ATR 42-600 / 72-600
* Antonov AN-2
* Fokker F.VII
* Latecoere 631
* Savoia-Marchetti S.55

Guessing those choices had to do with the devs and sales. But hoping they get to the really broken ones (the Shorts SC.7 literally does not work, the engines die) sooner than later.

Anyway, if you're patient and there are more than 6 or 7 of those planes you'd like anyway, the Aviator Edition is now a bit more attractive.
