MSFS Packages getting too big...

about 860 GB sofar atm...

That's because i have various 'hangars' in here as well (aircraft i don't use much but still want to keep). I'd like to move my entire MSFSPackages folder to another drive. It's on a SSD drive now ( D ) but that's actually not really necessary, is it ?..... I have 1.5 TB free on a HD ( E ), will i run into problems if i move my MSFSPackages folder from D to E ?? Of course both the Community and Official folders are present in my MSDFSPackages folder.

Installing World Update XVII atm and i already got sort of a warning message that i could be running out of space sooner or later... I suppose f.i. all World Updates are installed in the Official folder, right ?

Any hints/tips will be highly appreciated !

Thanks!
Cheers, Jan

I don't use it, mainly because I don't have anywhere near that much, but people rave about Addon Linker. If I'm not mistaken, it lets you store your community content on another drive and then sets up virtual links to various combinations of addons according to what you set up. One configuration might put in the KitFox and a set of bush strips, while another puts in the DC-6 and a set of vintage airports. The rest doesn't get registered when the sim launches, so it speeds up load times.

Best off, it's free!

And yeah, all Marketplace content, including World Updates, are in the Official folder. If you install another drive, I think the Packages folder can be moved without having to do a clean install, but I'm not certain. Mine is in the default location, and my 1TB drive isn't quite half full.

Aha, Ok ! Addon Linker. Sure read about it but never used it because i was happy with my 'own system' of moving aircraft in and out of my Community folder. Never a problem etc. A good time to change to Addon Linker now.

My Community folder itself is currently 'only' 215 GB and could be a lot less because i don't fly most of the aircraft in there but i DO still like to look at 'em every now and then because the're made so well. I can't help buying aircraft models just because of that. After 4 years i am still amazed at the high quality of many of the aircraft models that are developed for MSFS. It's the Official folder that takes up most space, a whopping 500 Gig atm.

Now let's see what this Addon Linker can do for me. Thanks for the suggestion, Tom ! (y)
