• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

MSFS Won't Launch!

This is weird, yesterday it worked fine, flew last night as well. . .everything was fine. Today, it only gets to where it says "launching" and disappears. I've done some searching online and tried various "fixes", none of which had any affect. Anyone else run into this?

Tried that as well as shutting down the system and rebooting. I finally uninstalled it (twice) before it quit giving me errors while unpacking. Now I got it to start but it's "updating Standard Content" which it did 2 days ago and took about 4 hours on high speed internet, lol

Do you have any Windows updates needed? It wouldn't launch for me a few weeks ago, had to update windows and that fixed it.

Is there a repair option in the xbox toolbar? I seem to remember having to do that once to fix an issue.

Always do a "shutdown /s" from the command line prompt when windows starts having these kinds of fits.
shutdown /s /t 0 avoids that 5 second countdown.

Fun fact, if you're on a company domain network and have admin rights, you can use that command on someone else's computer!
