Mu-2

I started a quick paint, and found the horizontal stabilisers are transparent!
Any body else have this?

??? maybe your referring to a painters dilemma ????, but as far as the horizontal stabilizers....I can see the starboard side in your pic.
The inset pic is the stretched version of the Solitaire, called the Marquise...but I'm sure you already knew that.

Check if your station_load info has missing comma's to throw it off..

Station_Load.0 = "170.000, 1.700, -1.750, -3.000, Pilot" // Pilot Weight (lbs), longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet)
Station_Load.1 = "170.000, 1.700, 1.750, -3.000, Front Passenger" // Front Passenger Weight (lbs), longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet)
Station_Load.2 = "350.000, -3.300, 0.000, -3.000, Payload" // Payload Weight (lbs), longitudinal, lateral, vertical positions from datum (feet)

Thanks Krazy, for running that down for us. I, too, was wondering why I couldn't get a balance.

where would this station_load be?

Actually, that photo is of an MU-2J, which is a stretched version of the MU-2K :) We will have a Marquise for you all soon.

You can find it under the [WEIGHT_AND_BALANCE] section in the "aircraft.cfg" file.

And thanks for finding the fix Krazy. I had actually uninstalled this one already (sorry) because it was
a pain to taxi as well as fly right. Since that change it has a more permanent spot in the hangar.

Yep.

I fixed it by resaving the "Elevator.bmp" without the Alpha channel. Basically the horizontal stabs/elevators are not tagged correctly in the model. They need to react to an alpha channel with a level of reflectivity rather than opacity. This workaround fixes being able to see through the parts but you lose the glossy finish so it looks like two different shades of white.

After another trip to the sim, I finally saw the transparency in the horizontal stabilizer. From spotplane view looking at the back of the aircraft and rotating up and down it became very obvious.

Good catch, GNZLAP. I hadn't noticed that at all. Took a painter I guess to run across that one first. :applause:

LOL! So many little variants. Well, the stretched part was right. :costumes:

Actually, I thought ZK-KOH is TC Designated a MU-2B-30, which again I thought would be MU-2G. My reference to the Marquise was a bit over zealous. I should of stuck with the stretched variant in the inset.

Doesn't matter anyway. Having loads of fun with this MU-2 and looking forward to the Marquise.

Can we get the spoilers to deploy for braking purposes as well as banking in the next version?
They are definitely used for that purpose on short landings as demonstrated here:

We worked with several MU-2 pilots/owners on this project, and ive got some Mits time myself. The spoilers on the MU-2 can only be actuated for roll control. You see them in the video as the pilot uses the yoke to keep the wings level after touchdown. The track on this aircraft being so narrow makes this small operating technique necessary.

Not to get too far OT here, but while you're watching that video, there are several others listed. . .one is of the design features of the MU-2. . .lol. . .the guy on camera is going through probably what is a predetermined script on the airplane and in the meantime, the wind is blowing so hard, all you get is wind noise, lol. Didn't anyone view this before it was posted and think. . .hmmm, maybe we should re-shoot, lol.

To be fair, I didn't watch any more than a minute or two because I expected the entire vid to be that way and didn't care to listen to the wind. It is possible that it got better as it went along. . .but still. . .lol.

ok, back on topic, I'm working on a repaint right now of one I found on airliners.net. I've found several pics of the same airplane and each one appears to be a different color. In some it looks bronze-ish and in another it looks more the color I show here, so for the time being, I'm going with this.

No, I didn't suddenly learn GMax overnight and reshape the MU-2 to a blimp, lol, lol. That's what happens to my shots due to the widescreen configuration and my screen shot software. . . .you get the idea though.

Note to self. . . .next time, change the resolution in the screenshot software config before you shoot another screenshot, lol. . .fixed, as you can see above. . .lol

Yes sorry I put up the pic of my next question by mistake, which was going to be: what's the real a/c in the inset, and are we likely to see a model of it? :redf:
And, since question time is in session: does that little rocket really, erm, rocket like that?? Wow...

Yep.

OK I lost the Alpha, but it does look a little dead round the derriere. Is it a mapping issue, or can one create a subtle reflectivity?

Ok. Thanks for info.

Another fine aircraft from PAD :icon_lol:

John and I where doing a "hop list" last night!!

Here's an updated shot of the livery I'm working on. The color is probably a light metallic copper as near as I can tell (as each photo I find looks different depending on the light is was shot in). This is probably the color I'll go with.
