Multiple install guide?

I ran across a great guide by Rami to install the eto. And I was wondering if there's anything like that to set up multiple installs? And maybe one to install the med?

Dude,
All you need to do is make a copy of the cfs2 install folder, mod it anyway you want and run from there. it really is that easy. in the past i've had one install for each of the following "In Defence of Austrailia", the 4 foxfour korean camps, the Poland 39 camp etc etc. the hardest part is when a camp is created then you have to round up all the scenery, acft, etc.

good luck

Rich12545,

Allow me to clarify.

Make an install of CFS2.

After you've made it, make a copy of the ENTIRE folder, placing it on the desktop. Do this as many times as you want to create separate installs, renaming the folder each time for the different install you want. (Med, Eastern Front, Korea, etc...)

Then, you can take these re-named installs and place them back in your gaming folder.

It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you leave a "virgin" install on your hard drive, it will provide insurance in case something goes awry during your learning curve.

To make shortcuts for these new installs, look for the cfs2.exe file in the CFS2 main, or "root" folder and make a shortcut of that. I'll tell you how to do an icon for Mission builder a little later, no sense overwhelming you.

Oh yeah...Sander's scenery site appears to be down today. It comes and goes...

That's pretty easy. I read in another thread you needed to somehow use the dos REM command and make a CFS2.ini file listing for each install. That was a bit confusing.

That was me rich.

It is not as confusing as it appears.

You will find the ini is also really easy to build in notepad.
The instructions for multiple installs is either in utilities here or on Netwings.

Hi Rich
It 's perhaps the Easymultiinstall ...
,this "multiInstall" works with bat files for six theatres ,the folders in the zip are empty ,they give the structure of your future ETOs,you have to fill them aircrafts mission uires etc ....start to begin with two ETO,CFSPac,the default, and CFSEurWF ,for example ,make a simply copy of your cfs2 to start ,and step by step you 'll build you euro Theatre. There is some read txt that help to install it ,but my english can be sometime difficult to understand ....if you need help i'll be there.
Some simmers here at SOH use it and have even upgrated it ,some have now more than six ETO and have modified the bat to works with the gsl folder and the scenery cfg (one for each ETO),that i've not done at this time. I hope they talk about here and share their tips .I think it needs today a rework but this basic version still available .
My cfs2's ETO work since 2004 and had moved on three different computers
My interest for it at begin was about the DD space and the aircraft folder limitation and also about the MB that work as usual on each ETO

Wow. Three different ways for multi installs. I like Rami's the best although it takes up the most hard drive space. So I think I'll try that first.

One more question (for now heh). I'd like to set up the entire eur theater including the med on one install if possible. After Sander's program, I've found textures and stuff for the med. Can those be added to the eur install without overwriting what I get from Sander?

Rich,

I tried to keep the ETO and the MTO together for a time, but I've now got them separated into separate installs. With British, Italian, Vichy French and USA planes, ships and vehicles, it quickly overwhelmed a single ETO/MTO installation. Not only that, but I use some textures that are great for the desert, but don't look all that good in the ETO.

I think you're right. I'm going to do four installs. Civilian (with fs2000), PTO, ETO and MTO. That should take care of it.

Oh, if it were that simple. Pretty soon you'll have a WW I installation, an Ostfront installation with winter textures and then perhaps a Battle of Britain and then Korea and Vietnam and then the Spanish Civil War and then...
