Multiple Installs

SgtT

SOH-CM-2024
Good Morning and greetings from IL.

I this question over in the CFS3 forum. So I'm slowly getting back into my different simulators.

My question is how many installs could we have for CFS2. For example, Korea, Vietnam etc.

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,
Basically unlimited. As CFS2 is self contained, you can completely copy one install...and paste..and paste...and paste...then rename and set up to what era you want.

The only thing to consider is if you are making/compiling missions (not actually using one), the MB will point to your first/original install, and you will have to change the path manually to get it to use/compile in the other versions. Other than that QB, Missions etc work in each install. You can also make a centralised scenery libarary ,including other folders, and get all the versions to point to that, which cuts down on space (if it's an issue!).

I've got 4 installs, had 6 and just deleted 2, as I didn't need them.

Cheers

Shessi

I had up to 8 active installs at a time.

> PTO/CBI
> ETO
> MTO
> EFTO
> WW1
> SCW
> Korean War (plus various other things from 1946 to late 50s)
> Modern era (actually, random things from the 60s to nowadays)

I would recommend that regardless of how many installs you have, always keep one purely stock install for testing, troubleshooting, and reference. It's nice to have that "control", especially as you add more and more extras to your other installs.

Shessi,

As far as Mission Builder is concerned, you can copy and paste the original MB shortcut on on your desktop and redirect the newer shortcut to a different install. Then, when you want to create missions/campaigns for a particular install you just click on the MB shortcut associated with that install.

Yep, as I hinted to in my post...''...you will have to change the path manually to get it to use/compile in the other versions.''....;)

Cheers

First of all, copy/paste a fresh stock install, then you can add anything you want.

As a starting point for WW2/ETO and WW2/MTO, here are Rami's guides on how to get the proper sceneries:
> ETO installation guide: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=49&id=2931
> MTO installation guide: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=49&id=2932
Then, add any aircraft/airfields/campaigns you want.

For WW2/PTO, you can either keep stock sceneries, or use this guide to install newer meshes and sceneries:
Note that a lot of older stuff (sceneries and campaigns) will not work with the newer PTO sceneries.

For WW2/EFTO, try Ajax's Eastern Front Scenery Project (6 parts):

> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5967
> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5968
> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5981
> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=45&id=5982
Then, add any aircraft/airfields/campaigns you want.

For WW1, Aerocrate's 1916 mods are a must have, as well as Captain Kurt's Rickenbacker campaign:
> Aerocrate: http://aerocrate.com/home.html
> CK's Rickenbacker campaign: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=44&id=27980

For Spanish Civil War, download Captain Kurt's campaigns and follow the instructions:
> http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=44&id=16234

For Korean War, I highly recommend FoxFour's stuff:

For Vietnam War, here is a link to the Vietnam War Project:
