Anyone know where I can find diagrams showing the lettering found on the P-51D? I am close to finishing my template for the Alphasim Mustang and I want to add some detail.

Also, are the control surfaces cloth or metal?

What might help, is decals.
Search for P-51D decals, decalset or similar.

Oftern the sheets offered are scanned and of good quality. Sometimes the building instructions are scanned, too.
These should be a good guidance to place them.

If you cant read the stencils, try to do them on oyur own, you need a font type for that.

What I am looking for is the actual wording such as on the gun bay doors and the like. I know the wording is so small you won't be able to make it out but I want the impression of the right wording.

Perfect find, DVSlats!

You get the idea and location of it and can write it agian, using a font.
BTW: Even when the words are small - there is a difference, if you write something, or the exact words and size them down.
 
Yes indeed dvslats, I did a web search and couldn't find what you found. Thanks! That is just what I have been looking for. Thanks to all of you for helping me out. This is one of the best forums I have ever been involved with and I am glad to be back.
