MV F-4E Phantom II Released!

Still quite a bit to do but most of the camo's complete now after a long struggle with a highly detailed but also highly complex paint kit that keeps crashing CS4! XV406 (D) of No. 111 Squadron RAF around 1977.

I believe someone's already done a kosher two-tone grey 74 Sqdn F4-J from the mid-1980's, but this works for me at least. Will put this out when done but it may be a while. In fact MV may well have put out a K/M by then.....:untroubled:!

PS - this is in DX9; DX10 still gives an issue with the afterburners though I haven't got the latest SP

Hi,

The J/S model (with the S VC) will be a completely different product. It will include the following:

1) a J model external with the leading edge flaps, BLC and a corrected FDE for these.

2) a S model external AND VC with leading edge slats, no BLC and a corrected FDE for these.

We are hoping to do a carrier as well but that is not yet certain. It is under consideration. We will, of course, make both of these carrier compatible and we MAY implement autoland. Again, this is uncertain.

Thank you.

Kat.

Sounds incredible. Remember that the wing fence between outer/inner slats are a bit different on the S-model, compared to the E.

Best regards Dag

Is anybody else missing the right wing fence on the last updated J model (150803)?

I've installed (after uninstalling) twice but still no right wing fence. Myh download was with all AV and Firewall shut down and not other apps running.

Everything else seems to work fine.

Hi Duckie!
Fence? What are you thinking about? Maybe my English is too poor : ). The right side looks ok for me (803v.): http://images68.fotosik.pl/1095/8b5f07520c88958f.jpg , http://images68.fotosik.pl/1095/4539f9643c2c3bb6.jpg .
Antivirus was turn off?
Btw. You can check MV support Forum.

Edit: Ok, I found it, You have right. I'll call it on MV Forum, for me its a interrupter.

Another issue I've found. If you're using any F-4J paints not in the latest patch (--803), make sure you copy the F4E_12_ext_bump file into each such texture folder (or into the generic 'texture' folder). At least on my clean install there is no F4E_12_ext_bump file in there. Otherwise you get an oddly dark weird nose...! Posted this on the support forum too.

DaveQ, It isn't issue. J/S version was updated by developer so "old" skins must be updated too by authors.
Its easy to fix it: just copy F4E_12_ext_bump + spec to folder with "old" skins J/S.

You can do it manually, take this textures (F4E_12_ext_bump.dds and F4E_ext_specular.dds) from VF-92 Folder and copy to other, non-default skins (J or S only).

DaveQ, I mentioned this in my paint update thread. I found that both the F4E_12_ext_bump and F4E_12_ext_specular need to be added to all my paints. This was found by checking the VF92 paint folder. This is a change for the J after the new SP1 release. Yo Yo beat me to it.

Zsolt, that Manching machine does look good :applause: !
BTW: The GLASS_T.dds green/blue tinted windshield mod you used is causing coloured patches inside the front seat canopy (when you look left or right). I use the latest Milviz version now without the tinted windshield.

I made the tinted windshield long ago (it is not original from Milviz). I sorted out the area on the GLASS_T.dds that was used to cover the windshield. At that time it worked well.
Since that, a lot of updates have been made to the model. And it seems like some of the tint is visibe on other parts of the glass.

I will ask if it is possible to make a unique texture file for the windshield in a future SP (many Phantoms have a tinted windshield). I can not guarantee that it will be done.
