my cat is crying at night

well its not a cry but rather a "scream"....last night, she had left the bed at some point...prolly because of my snoring and went to the recliner, then around three am i heard this gawd awfull blood crudalling scream come from her..made me sit up in bed and turn on the light..i started whistling for her ( she comes to me when i whistle) but she came HOWLING all the way and when she got to the bed she was still "talking" to me....she cuddled up on my arm still talking and then started purring and went to sleep...

about 4:30 the same thing happened only this time she "demanded" to get under the covers before she would relax...this has happened in the past a few time...but it bothers me because she was less than a year old the last time she had a "tramatic event" my ex fiance's son would put her head in the cieling fan and he would throw her across the room....shes 16 now and the only other thing thats ever happened was when i moved from that situation to my folks garage..she got out and went on what i call "haleys great adventure" she ran away and was gone for three days...i figured she was gone..hit by a car..found by a nieghbor ect..but at 5 am the third day she was at the side door howling.....she hasnt left the yard since...15 years she hasnt stepped out of the yard willingly...ive made her leave...but she hasnt left on her own...kind cool..i can let her out of the rv and know she wont leave the backyard.

but this waking up from a sound sleep in a raging panic gets me...what could she be possibly be needing me so much for..she wont calm down unless i comfort her...one time my folks were babysitting her....lol..i know that sounds silly...but mom took her in the house and she woke up "screaming" and she wouldnt calm down...30 or more minute she just howled...mom called me at the hospital and when i whistles and talked to haley on the phone...she calmed...but mom said haley was looking at the back and front of the phone like she was thinking...how is he IN there??? she said it was cute

She might've dreamed something - mine do that sometimes. They get all agitated, then slowly settle down.

But if it continues, you might want to have her checked out by your vet. She might also be reacting to something physical - indigestion, maybe. Given that she's a senior, there might be some adjustment (like a change in diet) you can make that'd help her sleep through the night.

Let us know how it goes with her.

Do you move around in bed or switch sides. I do that because of my legs and my cat runs away but no scream or meow. But because she is older, it could be that. Still, check with the vet just in case i wrong.

My siamese, "Twist" has been more vocal lately, himself. When I got home from the hospital yesterday, I noticed he was itching more than normal, and subsequently going around the house, crying, like most siamese do....but more so.

Turned out, the inside of his ears were all bloody and scabby. Took him to the vet, since it is close to my docs office, where I went to get my blood levels checked this morning. The vet gave him a cortisone shot, saying it looked like a severe allergy to flea bites. No evidence whatsoever of fleas, however. But the shot must have worked. He's been quiet all day.

View attachment 3271515 years is pretty old for a cat. May be some hidden health issues. Unfortunately, they have no way of telling you what hurts. My cat Akiko is 16 now and is becoming more and more infirm. She's lost lots of weight and drinks water in marathon sessions and occasionally makes loud yowls before tossing her cookies. I talked to the vet on my route (cat specialist), and she said it sounds like a thyroid issue combined with possible kidney issues. I know that Kiko is sick, but she's still not showing signs of distress other than the barfing, but once she starts showing more problems it will probably be time for that final sad trip to the vet. Hope you get your cat issues sorted out soon.
