Killer! But I'd seriously replace the CPIU fan with something better.:bump:

I had thought of possibly doing that...But its just a E5200 stock now, not really built to be a gamer, just for my shop...Well, thats what I told the wife...truth is , I just wanted to see how cheaply I could build one for....

This was more than it needed to be..I put in a 3850 ATI for fun. And boosted the CPU up some to, both raising the price about 35-40 bucks....

That is cool!

Would you mind posting a parts list with their prices. I'm thinking of building a machine like this to mess around with different linux distributions. :monkies:

Sure.....Here is my wish list from NewEgg before I ordered...

See how easy that was Mason. I spent a little more on my parts, but I'm picky. I alspo wanted a good power supply and "lots" of fans and airy parts in the case.

Caz

Well done ,Mason....this pc building is becoming addictive,no?:icon_lol::icon29:

Speaking of new builds...I was offered a brand new i7 965 chip this week for €400. I could also get a new Evga X58 mobo for a low,low price ;)...have a spare case,hdd's,ddr3 memory,1kw psu, spare 8800gtx,optical drives etc. I mentioned it to the missus but she was less than impressed to have yet another pc in the house :kilroy::monkies: .
I wound up having a few of these :icon29: instead!! LOL

Not a bad deal for $420!

The sad thing is that this cheap-o-box perfectly outruns my ~$1260 IBM Thinkpad T60. :icon_lol:

Ah well, at least I can watch movies on the road...:d

- Edit: KD, I'd gladly take that i765, X58 and DDR3. Want my Q9450, P5QL and DDR2 in return? :d

@ Lionheart..... Today it gets some games installed..At least I hope so..LOL Depends on what *Honey Do* things pop up....:blind:

@ Cazzie... I heard that, The whole idea hear was to build a shop rig, and see what I could build for VERY cheap..Its my third computer in use for me..... Yea...I needed it for sure..:icon_lol:

@ Kilo Delta....YUP...Addictive is not the correct word for it..I am already planning another.... Hi !...My name is Mason and I have a building computers problem....HeHe
Oh..You passed on a good deal there..The little lady was not impressed...LOL
Hopefully the :icon29: was good and cold anyway...

@ Bjoern....Its a pretty responsive machine so far from what I see...It got a 3DMark score of 8500 (forget exazt number) but me thinks with a little tweaking it miht do a tad better....:jump:

And each step gets more expensive and more involved. No ten step program for the addiction either Mason, you'll have to live with it. :ernae:

My oldest son and I (well, he did it mostly, I just supervised and made sure all connections were tight and proper) just finished up a new tower for him. He's delighted now, his pecker's bigger than daddy's! :icon_lol:

Now thats funny....... BUT......

With what I've learned from our very own txnetcop on OverClocking...

I just took this 70 dollar E5200@ 2.5 up to..........3.2 ....

Thats with slow speed ram at 800 too.....LOL

And its stable as all get out.....And runs idol temps @ 29-30....YEA

This is not *Ripleys Believe It Or Not* :jump:

FSX is next............. The saga will continue.....

Update.....

My first Vista Experience was 4.8...CPU caused the low score

Now OCed @ 3.2 it went to 5.5..With a CPU score of 5.5

My HDD was the cause of the low number this time

3DMark at stock was 8300

Oced it went to 1105

Now for FSX......

Which PSU did you use?

It would be great to get another small machine like this running. I don't know where I'd put it, but I'd make room.

I used a 850 W I had..BUT You can buy a 500W at NewEgg for like 50-60 bucks, or find a case / PSU combo deal

Wow, thats one of the biggest cases of overkill I've ever heard of :icon_lol::isadizzy:

Yea.....I had it here and decided to just use it..

@ Mike.....LOL I do need a desk here...I have to stand to type as my workbenches are to tall for me in a chair....:isadizzy:

Nice job, harleyman ! Like the blue case front...adds a little color and price is definitely right. :applause:

Curious to see how FSX fares on it !
