• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

I recently offered three topics for discussion. These topics were offered up as an academic experiment. I wanted to see where they would go. The three subjects brought up good answers and so on, but they also brought up some things that disappointed me.

I am sorry that my academic exercise turned into name calling, trading of insults and so on. I was hoping that people could give an honest evaluation of the questions, which most did. I learned a lot from the topics, what to expect when i ask these questions of my students. Yes, this was a experiment and yes all of you were my test subjects, and i apologize for that, but to get the results i needed i couldn't tell you all the reasons the questions were asked.

I am going to ask Rami to close all three of these threads, This exercise is over. I won't allow my professional curiosity devolve into a fight over nationalities and so on. Rami please close the threads for me?

And i offer up my apology to the community. A group of people that i consider learned on most of the aspects of military aviation from the period. I am just sorry some of us, couldn't put there ""national pride" on the back burner and approach this from the academics of the subject.

Thank you all for your comments in the threads, it helped me to see what i might have in front of me, when i offer these subjects to my students, and it helps me figure out what restrictions i need to place on the assignment. This term paper is going to count for 35 percent of their grade, so I need to keep it to the point of the subjects and not let them stray in the maner we did.

Thank you again.

I don't think you have to apologise for anything. They were, in my point of view, perfectly valid questions or polls for an air simulation forum. If any, people who did take it too seriously should apologise, but not you. The topics were very instructive, and I learnt a thing or two.

And now, all hands back to CFS2 :ernae:

...I am sorry that my academic exercise turned into name calling, trading of insults and so on.

Note.1: What did you expect from a bunch of basement-dwellin' aeronautical reprobates?

See Note.1

May the Force be with you.

Those were good posts, I saw nothing out of place with them. asking questions and getting answeres is the key to gaining knowledge, so keep on asking questions. Dont worry over the fools that crank on ya, its just life.Only way to learn, even though you might walk away with a lump on the side of you head...lol
Believe me you havent ever been burned on a forum as bad as Ol Crashwoody. Very few ever have. hehe. And some of the ol timers here can tell you its true...

Ahhhhh....haaaaaaaa...

You academics stirring up trouble again? :faint:

We can't leave you without supervision for more than a few minutes before the trouble starts! :costumes::costumes::costumes:

Have you been Smokin' In The Boys Room as well? :friday:

Cowboy, I only got to post on the most under-rated thread, but I liked the questions. As I was posting to the over-rated thread, Rami closed it.

Oh well. Like others have said, you owe no apologies to anyone. Those that got out of line owe you the apology.

We are a simple family organization here in the ole outhouse. We can fight amongst ourselves and as brothers, bloody each other's noses once in a while, but we are a family none the less.

There were/are some great suggestions as to how to frame your requirements for your students. Talk about development, evolution of the aircraft, win to losses ratio, climb rate, turn ratio, combat vs max speed, flight dynamics, armament, strategic vs tactical, range, stability, ability to take damage and remain in the fight, etc.

Devildog.....I appreciate what you are saying. But this was starting to get out of control. I won't allow my work be an excuse for certain individuals to air there greva senses against each other ..........and well I am also proud to be a part of this family.

I went back into the most over rated thread and read it start to finish.

I see what you all meant now.........................

I am a moderator on an AKO forum. I try to use the power very sparingly but there are times when others do not leave much alternative.

In there, though, I can edit or delete posts that are out of line.

I personally enjoyed the questions and would like to see more. As for the rest...I usually dont know what's going on anyway. :173go1:

I just hope I did not offend anyone. That was not my intention. We have members from many Nationalities and thats the way I like it. I have nothing but respect for every member of this community. I do have strong opinions but that should not be taken as disrespecting any other member because of my opinions. I like history to be portray in a honest and fairly Accurate way without having to resorting to demeaning anyone else just to make a point.

I also have nothing but the utter most admiration and respect for those Aviator that risk their lives in World war two and in other wars that Aviation took part in.

I"am sincerly sorry if I offend anyone in this forum with my opinion. If you have any comments on my post that you though I disrected you say so I will correct my comment if I consider that you are right.

There has to be order respect for each if we want this Hobby to flourish.

That in no way means that we should be afraid to bring sensative subjects. It will only increase our collective knowledge and make this forum richer.

This is just my opinion!

Im glad to hear that you arnt giveing up, too many good people have, valuable people to this small comunity, people we need and value, so good to hear that you will still contribute.
In life there are always those that would just love to rip u up and tear you down for no reason but to some how artificialy up lift them selves from the mud puddle they live in...or think they live in.
The only mistake you can make in life is to give up, if you give up then you give up on you, and thats a shame.

Any ways, its good that you toughed this one through, its just the way of life in on line forums, every one is a tough guy when they dont see your face up close, in person they would be nice as can be ause you are there right in front of them, some how a computer screen makes some people mr. tough guy. hehe.

Those were good questions and I learned from them, so keep it up.

Crashwoody

You've no need to apologise at all Cowboy. I have found in the past that questions which raise the point of something being lauded far more than actually needed usually are the ones that get the most heated. Conversely where considering what is classed as 'underdogs' the replies are usually taken in and looked at in a more accepting light.

They were all enlightening threads, and healthy constructive debate should be encouraged.
