Name Your Rig -FS2020

I noticed a lot of people coming here and other forums asking if their PC rig will suffice.

I think it would be great if people would post their rig specs, manufacture, and rate/describe your PC performance on FS2020. I myself am ready to take the big leap, and if you google "what PC is best for MSflight sim" or shop online it will make your headspin. That is, it's hard to tell if these articles online are being hyperbolic. Been an xboner my whole life.

I heard rumors that MS2024 is working to optimize specs, not make them more demanding, which is GREAT NEWS!

New rig (well beefed up from an i7-8700 build): Ryzen 7800x3d cpu, Asus Proart B650 Creator motherboard, nVidia RTX 4080 super, DeepCool LT520 Infinity Series liquid cooler, G Skill 64 gig DDR5-6000 memory (on 2 sticks), Samsung Evo 2tb nvme along with many ssds and some hard drives. Just got it set up yesterday so still evaluating it. I think I had some unrealistic expectations, but realized MSFS is not going to run well maxed out in it's current state. I really have been pushing it to test it all out. I am currently driving a HP reverb G2 supersampled at greater than Pimax Crystal Light (that's on the way) resolutions (about 3000 x 3000) and getting high 30s/low 40s fps (no frame gen) with most settings on high and some on ultra. I haven't modified the cpu settings and have room to push it more if I decide. I did activate rebar and xmp. So far, I think I'm liking that I don't have to drive the cpu at light speed so it's running relatively cool. I probably could get the fps much higher if I rolled the settings back, but I prefer the visuals. I remember being happy with 12 fps back in the FS98 and FS2000 days lol.

Yeah, I am thinking it might have to be i9 or bust, but I hear the 7800x3d is a solid choice. Nvidia cards I am a little lost on which is considered stout compared to others. But you would think the 64 gigs of memory and several ssds with hds wouldve done the trick. I am looking at the 2000+/- price range, pre built. It is hard to imagine i spent $1850 on a dv17 15 years ago, and that could not even run FSX on max. Finger's crossed the quote of the devs saying they are trying to optimize the current hardware for 2024.

My specs are below in my signature. I purchased it as a refurbished PC for $450. through Amazon. I already have 2-22" monitors so the PC was all I needed. When I initially loaded MSFS it suggested that I run all sliders (or those that can ) on Ultra. Every scenario I've flown thus far has been smooth, no lags, no stutters and locked at 30fps, it remains spot on.

My specs are in my signature below (stock 2019 gaming PC from Lenovo but with a new power supply recently added). I purchased this PC in 2019 with only MSFS 2020 in mind, after it was leaked that MS/Asobo were using similar spec hardware in the PCs that were being used to demo MSFS 2020 at gaming events at the time. I feel its been a solid performer with MSFS 2020 since day one and its only gotten better as MS/Asobo has optimized the sim over time. My settings are with anti-aliasing set to Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution: Auto, Nvidia FidelityFX: 100, DirectX: DX12, V-Sync: Off, Nvidia Reflex Low Latency: On, and all graphics sliders set as they are when choosing Global Rendering Quality: Ultra (except motion blur and lens flare turned off). With those settings, at 4K resolution, flying the stock Cessna around a rural setting, I get up to around 58-62 FPS in the air in clear skies, and about 43-45 FPS in the same spot in overcast skies. Flying in the heart of a photogrammetry city, my FPS are around 40-45 in clear skies and anywhere from 30-40 FPS in overcast skies. However, I normally always choose to use 70% 4K resolution (2688x1512 in my case), which provides a few more FPS, while I also keep my FPS capped at 35. That way I rarely see a change in FPS no matter what conditons I'm flying in or how detailed the airport is that I'm flying in/out of.

I was looking at their brand, as they are priced fairly decently. I hear i9 is the way, good to hear it is working well.

Custom:

MSI PRO X670-P WIFI
Windows 11 Home 23H2
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 4.20 GHz
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
64GB DDR5 6000MHz
Samsung 990 Pro 2TB
1Kw Power Supply

Running everything maxed out, no issues in the roughly 6 months I've had it.

See my sig too. Bought it as a custom build in December '22. The 4xxx cards were just coming out, so I ordered the 3070 (still a good performer) to save money. I keep my settings mixed between high for things that make a big visual impact (clouds and such) and lower for things that don't make as much difference. With good weather and stock scenery/planes, I can easily pull over 50 FPS. In clear skies over the Atlantic, I've seen over 100.

So, I applied a PBO under volt to my CPU and it's running even cooler at idle now. Going to test it out in MSFS in a bit. The process of getting these to run even better is so different from an intel chip. I waited a while before I even tried until I read more about these chips. From what I understand temperature is more important to control than clock speed as if you lower the temperature the thing will boost up to its maximum clock speed for longer periods of time on its own (someone correct me if I am wrong). I'm glad AMD took a different approach with the x3d chips.

Dell T3600 which I bought refurbished 10 years ago.
I dropped in two WD HDD's, 64Gig RAM and an RTX 2060 Super.
Good workstation that can run FS2020 quite satisfactorily including VR with a Reverb G2.
No pity please, and I accept donations to my paypal account.:ROFLMAO:

Specs in my Sig. I pretty much copied Cazzie's build his son made for him, just adding more RAM. Running everything pretty much at where the sim suggests, as I don't like to tinker to much. I rarely have any problems not software related. I don't pay attention to framerates, etc, as I just like to enjoy the scenery. And that I do, as it runs FS2020 smooth as silk. Which is what it was built for.

Recent build in my signature. Since I still only play on a 1920x1080 monitor I didn't see the need for an even more expensive video card.
Quite happy with this set-up, it runs Fs2020 (And anything else!) smooth as silk.

I have 12th i9-12900K, 32GB DDR5 Ram, RTX4090, 1000watt PSU, Samsung 960Pro 500GB, Samsung 980Pro 500GB, Crucial MX300 525Gb, Crucial MX 500 2TB (other games) and WD Black 4TB (MSFS only) and a Samsung Odyssey G7 28" 4K monitor.

Sam, seems a good name...
