"Nancy Lee"

Bomber_12th

SOH-CM-2025
I had been hoping to get a chance to make this repaint for quite some time, and I'm finally just about done with it. This is a historical scheme, from the 370th FG, 402nd FS, 9th AF.

I'll be releasing a version for "Little Friends I" (applied to the "Millie G" model (as it has the P-38 mirror, as the original did)), and I will also be releasing a version for "HJGB, Then and Now" (for use on the restored-current model (with the P-38 mirror and no Spitfire mirror)).

Nancy is looking great, John.
Did you have a pic for the starboard side? I never saw that side

Hey Bill, I'm sorry I forgot about this one. I'll package it together this afternoon and have it uploaded.

Okay, here is a download link through mediafire (it's quite a big file, so I'm not sure about sticking it on the SOH server): http://www.mediafire.com/?4c763auz2x12ag3

Regarding the nose art on the right side of the aircraft, I haven't seen an original photo of that side of the aircraft, but that is what the decal companies show. Although when I did "The Enchantress", I had a great photo to work from and I was able to recreate the nose art all from scratch myself to maintain quality (this before there were ever any decals for that scheme), in this case I just didn't want to invest the time to do so, so it is a combination of a scan of the decal that I found online, with a bit of adjustments here and there (it isn't the greatest, though is meant to look painted on). The nose art writing on the left side was all done by hand, drawing each letter to match the original as closely as possible (there are no fonts for this type of work - even with the serial number on the tail, you can't find a font that matches it perfectly, so I researched those out and made the numbers (0-9) all correctly from scratch a few years ago and they are always included in the Warbirdsim P-51D paintkits). This repaint is for "Little Friends I", and is assigned to use a model that actually matches it very well, with the P-38 mirror just as the original had, fitted in the field.

In the screenshots above, and in general use as of late, I have been using the environment map by Bob Rivera, available at Avsim with the file name GlobalEnv_Texturesv1.zip - the same environment map that should be used with Dimus' Fantasy of Flight scenery.

Here are the two images of the original aircraft, that I'm aware of and used for this project. Note that, between when I took the above screenshots, and now, I corrected the tail number - it being 44-72322, not 44-73322 as I had it.

John,

Will you be uploading to SOH? My Norton gave me a virus attack message when I tried the d/l link above.

Regards,

Bob

I'm sorry guys - I uploaded here at about the very same time of my last post to this thread, but it hasn't shown up, even as other newer repaints have been uploaded and become available. I haven't received any information back about it, so I have just uploaded it again, so hopefully this time it makes it through.

Rami is still under a heavy workload of 200-300 uploads to moderate each day and has a huge backlog waiting. My upload took about 24 hours or so to make it through so it should show up before long.
