  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION - ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ

Due to an increase in the number of new members who are trying to systematically download our entire Resource Library (one new member yesterday tried to download 3,000+ files AT ONCE!) we are being forced to implement some changes regarding who can download what, how many files at a time and at what speed. As the forums and Resource Library share the same bandwidth when the Library gets overloaded with demand like that the forums fall over, as we have all seen recently. It's sad that greed has forced our hand in this way but we must do something for the benefit of all our legitimate members (many of whom paid money for the upkeep of the site) and to prevent the files stored here being used for nefarious purposes. Many of our uploads have specific conditions tied to them that forbid uploading to any other site or deny uploading to any site that has a 'paywall' (i.e. a pay to download policy). Due to the number of mass download attempts recently we can only assume that somebody, somewhere, is attempting to stock up a new file library with our files and we owe it to our up-loaders to protect their files and intellectual property especially as many (like my own LDR Development projects) are made available at SOH only and are specified as such in the 'read me' files.

The forums and Resource Library will be taken offline as of 13:00 EDT with the forums coming back online shortly after without the resources library while we work on setting up permissions on the new Library module.

We hope our members understand why we need to do this and will bear with us while we implement the changes.

    Thanks in anticipation, SOH ADMINISTRATION

Downloads are now active. You may proceed with downloading as desired

The download limits are a work in progress. Some settings are likely to need tweaking in the coming days.

i know tankerguy will get the top line,, or not i have weird ideas sometimes lol

Working on an airplane for more than 6 months is very tiring and from time to time developers need to do something else while waiting for the motivation to come back. So give him time to do something else and then focus on his project.

Broken coms, Broken MSFS24 and Broken Developer ;) haha

I made the move to MSFS24 and the S2T will be awesome in this sim and hopefully in the fire fighting missions. Digging through the SDK but Im more of a "see how its done" rather than "read how its done" kind of guy. Hoping they open up the default aircraft files soon.

Also moved the S2 over to 24 and all vc switches are unclickable for some odd reason even though they're native coded. Seems to be one step forward three steps back lately.

anything new to talk about tankerguy? gonna be a long while before i get to 24. but i still want to see what the progress is, are you going to the 2024 forums with this?

Hi Dave, Im thinking it will be built for MSFS24. Started down the rabbit hole of dissecting the 24 SDK and trying to figure out how to add all the variables to make it compatible with 24 fire missions. It was all going well until one thing was changed and now its crashing the package builder. Wondering if all the gray hairs are worth it.

why yes,yes they are.... makes you look all dignified n crap... hehehe

they arent on my head.lol
what was the guys name , lived in mono county (i think), he was near mono lake anyway, had a pic of a motorcycle on his profile pic... ? he was building several variants of the F7F, including an airtanker .. did he ever finish them? sure would like to see the F7F airtanker in 20 and 24.. and shame whomever did the avenger didnt make a airtanker version, painted over windows n all.i can dream, like i wish aeroplane heaven would build thier IA-58 Pucara into 20 and 24.. wont beg though

Tankerguy, you can make it for outside the fire mission too. One of the devs made an aerial firefighter addon South Oak's Aero fire Global that we can fly to fires on also. Just came out on March 9th.

Just a brief update:

After spending some time evaluating MSFS 2024, the SDK, and the very loooooong road this project has already taken, I’ve decided the quickest and most efficient path to the finish line is to complete the current build for MSFS 2020 first, then tackle the MSFS 2024 version afterward.

With the release of FS Fire — which I haven’t had a chance to try yet — it looks like we may now have a way to battle fires in MSFS 2020, and that helped push me toward this decision.

I’m not going to guess at a timeline, but I am committed to finishing this project. I am currently bringing my workflow back up to date, with materials, animations and fixing some old geometry.

And if you do the whole Faceplace thing, I’ll also be posting updates over on Flyin’J Simulations:
