Natural Beauty: Orbx NA Blue Pacific Northwest Preview

Of course, the shorelines and water contours are only as good as the source data from which they're drawn. In the PNW, the available data are excellent, and the result is just plain eye-popping. Combine that with custom terrain textures, high-res mesh, vastly improved autogen, hundreds of enhanced airports, and judiciously-placed patches of phototerrain, and it's not even fair to compare it to the defaults.

Once the PNW demo is out, try it. That's all Ima gonna say.

Although the default PNW is not terribly bad, I wonder how it can be compared to this? I have fond memories of a vacation in the PNW and this FTX scenery just looks like the real thing and brought those memories back to life. Eagerly looking forward to the result of all your hard work!
BTW, even if one doesn't buy the extra airports, I'm sure there will be plenty of freeware airports to fly from and to (there are plenty for OZ, too).

True that. Of course, if people don't buy the extra airports, I might have to go live in a box down by the river. ;)

Heck I'm going buy it anyway, and the add-on airports, so Bill can live in a van down by the river... :icon_lol:

I don't take it as a personal hit at all... Let me emphasize some points about the product however.

1) Over 400+ airports have been redone in the base regional package.
2) The package covers areas in BC, Washington, Oregon and northern California.
3) As you can see, there are "other" products already in the works for it, however unless specifically stated the scenes are shot directly from the regional package. The mountain shots, Bonneville Dam, St Helens, etc etc etc. This is all in game, and running beautifully.
4) There are numerous shots available on the website which covers different lighting conditions, and 70% of this video is shot in mid day with cloud coverage (bright perfect sunny day in the northwest, no way man!). If the lighting turns you off, you can blame me directly because that was totally artistic interpretation.

Of course, I am a marketer, and I think I do my job well... however, I do stand by products we advertise and we make every attempt to only align ourselves with products we ourselves support. I don't want my company to be known for marketing shotty products, however there are always disagreements about "quality."

At any rate, thank you all for watching the video. I'm loving this product at the moment as this is my back yard (live in Fairview). I hope that some of you agree when it comes out this helps bring us back to the old GeoRender days, but for today's simulator.

Cheers gents!

-Cody

Cody to you and the folks down under who hired you I can only say, "_______________________________ "

I am speechless! I have looked at the Australian scenery Orbx with envy, wishing we had that kind of quality here in the US. It is the best of both worlds, the autogen and photo tile combined into one beautiful product. I will be purchasing the products.

Thanks for such a beautiful movie. It reminded me of the mountain flyby scenes from Lord of the Rings in NZ. It cheered my spirit.

You truly are talented.

Yes....always a better alternative than to the movies which people touch oneself.:icon_lol:

BOOOOOO HISSSSSSS...

Aww c'mon....this thread needed some levity.:173go1:

Fine... going back to my van... DOWN BY THE RIVER!! :running:

Great video Cody, really sets the mood for this addon, hope it's out soon. Regardless of this video, this purchase is a given, if it's priced anywhere near what a region of Australia costs, it'll be a bargain for all that you get.
I also dying to get it because I have source data for over 10 airports that I want to work on, depending on whats avaliable after FTX. I joined up with the guys at OZx for this very reason, so bring it on. :applause:

Yes, ideally people can develop from this platform. I can imagine a fully populated northwest, full of LOTS of great addons in our future!

LOL.... That's all I will say about that... haha.

Beautiful! Could you imagine Alaska with that kind of treatment?
Tongass Fjords and now this NA Blue are fullfilling my wildest scenery dreams. I have lived in both Alaska and the Northwest for the majority of my life.

The only other places I could wish for are some more areas like the Florida Keys... Oh hell, who am I kidding, I want it all.

Well, all I can say is, I hope Santa can see this thread, because it's on the list! :ernae:

LOL... spent too much time working on CRM/Visual Studio today... never left the house.

I'm buying!! I love their OZ scenery! Now I hope next they'll do the US Northeast. I don't fly much out west.......because I don't live there. Go figure?!:engel016:
