Navy Duck

This paint has been done. It might even be in the SHO library.

see, being colorblind isn't always easy...I'll try the other blue. And yea, weathering, no worries, but before I got my teeth into it, I wanted to be sure about the blue. And rightly so it seems.

So I forget about the Marines paint, and no, I don't think Murphy's version without the cowl was part of the original package. I am talking here about the Duck by Paul Domingue of course, not the other one, which did have a version without the cowl.

Hmmmm, maybe I have both versions in my hanger? Checking.

ejoiner, I tried your blue, but that's far too light. Here's the texture:

see how the color is lighter that the blue of the fin flash?
If you watch the movie:

from 31:00, you'll see that the blue paint is in fact darker than the blue of the fin flash (which I am assuming has the right RAF colour), so I am trying for a darker blue, not a lighter...
Back to the drawing board...

well, I beg to differ, sorry about that. You can blame my colorblindness if you want...but PRU blue, no, absolutely not

Here's the colour I'm going for, and now with some weathering as well:

I have various "bits" of "Bad Duck" and I wonder which bits will make the most recent iteration?

the weathering looks great! Here's the blue from that other Duck. I forgot there were 2 models mixed in my hanger. I think your blue is closer to the movie model.

Maybe it is your blue, just very, very dirty! The clip above shows lots of angles.

AFAIK still the greatest seabird take-off sequence on film ever !

Great repaint, Jan-Kees, color looks spot on to me ! :encouragement:

just uploaded a few more paints on Ozx:

and our Irish friend:

You know I was so intrigued by this I went on Amazon prime and bought and downloaded the movie "Murphys war" last night. had been years and years since I last saw it. Very interesting film and yes the plane is blue. Possibly less saturation on the blue, but otherwise BLUE. Also, in the beginning of the film, the plane does have a cowling. After the original pilot crashes it, its left in pieces, which you can see. O'Toole removes it when he repairs the plane.

Thanks Jan:ernaehrung004:

My only issue is the glass texture from spot view. It is virtually invisible and although I have played around with Glass_diffuse.dds it makes no difference.
