Need a Joystick upgrade!

I'm still using the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro with newest Windows and all up to date, no problems with it. I do fly helos a lot and do find myself having to hold the twist rudder control to compensate for wind sometimes for long periods of time, which sucks. I don't think I've ever tried to trim a helicopter in this sim yet, LOL.

I have The new TB Flight Deck. It takes a bit of getting used to. I've had the Saitec X52, X55, and the VKS Gladiator. I was very pleased with all of them (oh, lookie another new shiney thingie). I cant say the Flight Deck is better than any of those but, there are sure a lot more buttons and sliders to map. I've modes for helos, fixed wing, props, jets, ETC . . . . . .

I wonder if another stick could be combined with just the throttle section of my X52. I'd like to try another stick, but I don't want to give up all the analog axes that are part of the throttle.

I have used the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro since I was still in the Military (2007). I am at my whits end with trying to control airplanes and even moreso, Helicopters. I considered myself a very capable Sim pilot and very adept at flying helicopters, hovering and smooth touch downs.

Now MSFS comes along and flying a nicely trimmed airplane is a head banger and helicopters virtually uncontrollable. I have watched video tutorials specific to my controllers but no joy! The CH Pro throttle I have is almost as dated as my joystick and one thing it has is a small joystick which is forever giving me problems by interfering with the 3D Pro. so I've decided enough is enough.

Any suggestions on an upgrade from what I have without getting too deep in debt?
What's your general price range? After some initial teething pains, I'm pretty happy with the Turtle Beach Velocity One Flight Deck HOTAS (that's a mouth full). They've implemented MSFS2020 support, and updated the firmware a couple of times. The initial setup is a bit of a pain, but it's a very flexible system, and has an overall nice build quality. The only drawback for me is the throttle quadrant display is currently hard mapped to specific keys on the keyboard. As such, you have map the keyboard to your liking first.

Dave, as I am accustomed to doing from time to time I jumped on the first thing that caught my eye, lol. . .very pleased with the Thrustmaster (see Post #4).

Interesting that they say the Logitech Extreme 3D is not compatible with windows 11, since I have been using it on windows 11 since it w11 came out. Just now after almost two decades its starting to fail, I think the USB cable is shorting out as I can hear the connect/disconnect beeps often when its plugged in. I did buy at onetime the Saitek X56 but to be honest it was much to complicated for what I need and I put it away. With my current problems I pulled it out again, disappointed to find that now only the yaw motion works (twisting the stick) everything else seems to be dead.

My usage is compicated a bit as I use a laptop, so yokes or other things that must be attached to a desk wont work for me.

Currently I am looking at either the Thrustmaster T16000M FCS HOTAS or the Turtle Beach Flight stick, both have more control options than my current setup but not as overwhelming as the X56. Any thoughts?
