Hi All, I am wondering if anyone has developed a bomb sight that will work on any level bomber? I know there is one for B 17;s. A specific B-17 I beleive. I don't think it will work on anything else like a Heinkel 111, or a B 25. I would greatly appreciate one that works on any bomber.Have a good one, BLONDI:cost1:

Yes, there are a couple of sights available.
You can get the Austin sight over at the larger sim sights. Just search the CFS 2 files for Austin or bomb sight. It comes with great instructions for installation and calibration for altitude and the speed of the aircraft. It takes a while to set up, but when installed it is my favorite.

The AF Midway sight, designed by Phillipe Burnage, is a favorite of many and it is available in their AF Midway packages which may still be in the archives here or they are certainly over at the larger sights. It's easy to use and very effective.

. Thank you very much.I just installed the austin sight into a DO24k and it works. Had a few minor issues on the panel.but I overcame that and it works good. I am now recalibrating it for the Dorner.I hope that works out alright. Have a good one. BLONDI:cost1:

Well...
It has two (2) selectable views, ...each has a different angle/approach speed and bombsight.
You can also select/de-select the gauge panel if you need the wider view.
The 200 mph approach speed view is the low-level bombsight/look-ahead view with a 39.45 degree depression angle. (for 5,000 feet and under or look-ahead)
The 155 mph approach speed view is the high-level bombsight/look-down view with a 57.50 degree depression angle. (for 5 to 25,000 feet)
Make sure the zoom is set to 1.00, ...the autopilot takes care of the elevation and wing-leveler once set, ...set the rudder trim a few clicks to true the flightpath, ...steer with the rudder to line up the sight, ...manage your speed precisely and wait for the correct elevation hash-mark to cross the target.
Simple.

Being the lazy dog that I am, I use the "bomb trainer" cheat in CFO, set my autopilot to hold altitude and steer with rudder from a top down view.

I've been waiting for a chance to do this... I created a short video of what I said above and here's how it looks:

Take note of the little multicolored star shaped thingy at the top center of the screen. That is the aim point. I maintained course to the target WP and set the autopilot to hold altitude and heading. Using the Top Down view the "bombardier" can make fine tuning adjustments to the heading by twisting the joystick slightly. Once the star "thingy is on or near the target, release your bombs, go back to cockpit view and turn off the autopilot.

Thanks Jagd. I neglected to post that, CFO Weather works well for that too. The Bomb Trainer works great for dive and slant bombing as well.
