I want to build a mission for the European theatre. How can I change the original PTO-airfields with some European ones, so that the MB finds them?

Go into mission builder, press create new mission,Press operation area and all the areas should pop up including European Theater/Click on that and hit ok.

Hi Hiede, thanks for help, but that doesn't solve my problem. I want to start from Helgoland, so I installed that scenery in my addon folder and activated it. It shows fine in free flight, but doesn't show in the list of airfields in the MB, there are only the PTO-airfields. I tried to change the airbases.dat-file, but that didn't work either.

It might be listed in the PTO bases,check that and see if it's there.

I know this is another airbase but did you enter the data to airbase data file?
[runway.27]
id=9031

heading=213
allegiance=1
units_across=2
base_lat=N52 22.5
base_lon=E1 26.71

takeoff_stop_pos=1600,200
landing_start_pos=5000,350
landing_touchdown_pos=600,0
landing_stop_pos=-250,0

you need to change the runway number and id number.Make sure no other of the runway have the same id number and the runway number follows the sequence.So if the last runway is 126 yours should be 127.

Hi Hiede, I couldn't expand/change the airbases.dat-file for I haven't/ could not find the necessary facts for Helgoland to do so.

Regards, hertzie

Here you go Erik. Just insert the next runway number in order and an ID number which isn't being used by another airfield.

Hi kdriver, thanks for your help. My "problem" is that I want to take off from Ralph Triebel's Helgoland, which has a nice scenery, and not from the "desolate" scenery that your Helgoland shows (please don't take this personally, it's just for description).

Erik,

Get Cody's Mission Building Handbook.

There's a section about taking off from "anywhere on the planet"

You should be able to create the mission you need by following his instructions on how to do this...

OK, try to find it, but didn't, or my english is not good enough to understand what CC is trying to tell. I only get water scenery or a green island with nothing, but never the scenery of Ralph Triebel.

Erik,

I think we are looking at different issues.

I googled Ralf Triebels Helgoland scenery & got nothing for CFS2.

Simviation has a CFS1 scenery, but I'm not sure it would work in CFS2.

The only other package I found was Aerosofts package for FS2004. Again, I'm not sure this will work in CFS2.

You say you want to create a mission, but your last comment suggests you don't have the scenery visible in CFS2 - because it wasn't made for CFS2?

Cody's guide (Chapter 15) suggests a quick & dirty method, in which you create a mission as an "air start", centred directly above the location you want to take off from.
You then open the mission file with notepad & change the starting altitude to ground level, & the action code from "turn" to "take-off" (the numbers are defined in Cody's Handbook).

But if you can't see the scenery...

If you copy and paste the text into ChatGPT, you could communicate effectively with almost pretty girl, even if they don't speak English fluently. Additionally, ChatGPT can help decipher and refine unclear messages, such as Mr. Coyote's English gibberish, making them more coherent and polished.

To "uncle": thanks for the start-location suggestion, I'll do my best. If you send me a pm with your email-adress I'll send you Ralph Triebels Helgoland.

to "Deathwind": great suggestion, I'll try it. Thanks also.

Ralf Triebel's version is for CFS1 but it does work in CFS2 with flickering sea level ground textures. The location is incorrect, being too far north, and the airfield should be located on the adjacent island of Dune which Ralf didn't include, instead placing the airfield on the main island.

Here is the airbases.dat entry for Ralf's version.

Hi kdriver, thanks. And yes, I knew it, but it's nice scenery with moving ships, though the flickering sealevel is indeed less fun.
