Need help for a friend

Hello,

A friend of mine, an avid simmer, experiences some anomalies in default FSX sceneries. For instance, after taking off from a small Hamburg airport, following the river Elbe to the North Sea, all of a sudden there is some land in the middle of the river that should not be there See the attached image.

He has a stock install FSX-A on a fairly low end computer.

Can anyone shed any light on this and how to rectify it? I have searched the net, but other than people reporting such anomalies, I can't seem to find any solution for this problem.

Oh, my friend is on disability, so costly addons to rectify this are a no-go I'm afraid. After the F16 I bought him, he will not accept anything else.

Any help or pointers are HIGHLY appreciated. Again, this is not for me, but for a friend in need.

Thanks a million in advance!

Yes! There's the same thing if you fly along the Thames; it's full of islands! The fix is a file called FSX_modified_terrain_cfg. I'm not sure where I got it from, but I've done a search and found it here: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/1373/fsx-modified-terrain-textures-config-file/ and here: http://simviation.com//fsxscenery1.htm

Thank you so much!! You indeed give meaning to "let being helpful be more important than being right"!!

In name of my friend, thank you again! I owe you one! :icon29:

You are more than welcome - look on it as putting a bit back for all the help so many others, including you, have given me in the past. I hope I am right on this one as well as helpful - please let me know.

I am quite impressed by Dumonceau's desire to help his buddy. Your friend is very fortunate to have an acquaintance like you. We should all be so lucky. Keep the blue side up!

David,

You were indeed right AND helpful! And in the process, his textures look less blurry at that! Look at the attached picture! I really cannot thank you enough!

This guy has been a good online friend of mine for years! And even if I am an IT worker, I could not help him like you just did. Do you realize what you have done? You've improved his simming experience VASTLY!!

Take care!

Hey Stan,

Thanks for the nice compliment. But in my book I did nothing special. If we can not or will not help our friends, then what are we?

I'm also ex-military, so standing by our mates is natural. Survival even!

But what David has done here, now that is special!

Take care y'all!
