Need help merging VC to TDS Boeing 737-800

Hello, I am trying to merge the Advanced VC by Alejandro Rojas Lucena which came packaged in the 737-823 freeware model, with the TDS 737-800 aircraft model. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to do this and I am unable to get it working. I tried asking an AI chat bot, and usually they're really helpful, but in this case, the instructions it gave me made no sense. So, I tried to do it on my own.

What I did was copy the interior model of the Advanced VC into each of the model folders (there are 12 variants) of the TDS plane. I then opened up the model.cfg files of each of the TDS models, and typed in "interior=B737_800_interior.mdl" (the name of the 737-823 interior model) underneath the name of the exterior model file. I then deleted the "panel" folder of the TDS airplane, and copied over the panel folder from the 737-823 model.

Unfortunately, it's not working and I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I would greatly appreciate any help from anyone that knows about this kind of stuff. I've never attempted doing a VC merge before and I know there's something that I'm not doing right.

Step-by-Step Merge Instructions
  1. Backup Everything: Always back up the aircraft.cfg, panel folder, and model folder of the recipient aircraft.

  2. Move the VC Model:
    • Locate the donor aircraft's model folder.
    • Find the interior MDL file (usually named *_interior.mdl or similar).
    • Copy this file into the recipient aircraft's model folder.
  3. Update model.cfg:
    • Open the model.cfg in the recipient's model folder.
    • Add or modify the interior= line to match the name of the file you just copied.
    • Example: interior=Aerosoft-A320-VC.mdl.
  4. Copy the Panel Files:
    • Copy the panel folder from the donor aircraft to the recipient aircraft folder.
    • Note: If you want to keep the recipient's 2D panel, only copy the gauge files and the [VCockpit] sections from the donor's panel.cfg into the recipient's panel.cfg.
  5. Configure Textures:
    • If the VC gauges or textures are missing, copy the relevant texture files from the donor's texture folder to the recipient's texture folder.
    • Alternatively, edit the texture.cfg in the recipient folder to add a fallback to the donor's texture folder.
  6. Adjust Eyepoint (aircraft.cfg):
    • Open aircraft.cfg and find the [Views] section.
    • Adjust the eyepoint coordinates

Thank you so much for these instructions! This is extremely helpful. So it was the textures I forgot to copy over, no wonder I didn't see a cockpit when I was in the VC view after I loaded a flight lol. And I didn't realize the eyepoint needed adjustment.
 
I do have a question regarding the textures in the texture folder. I only need to copy over the texture files used for the VC correct? I don't need to copy over the files for the exterior of the plane? I notice that there are both types of files in the main texture folder.
 
Just the VC textures from the donor common texture folder should do it as the recipient aircraft will still need its own common textures.

I understand now, thank you. I followed @MrZippy 's instructions, but for some reason it's still not working. In my case, neither the donor plane (737-823 Advanced VC), and the recipient plane (TDS 737-800) do not have a texture.cfg file, and in fact, the TDS model I am using is the base model, which does not come with any VC or VC texture files at all.

I copied all of the VC related textures from the donor plane's texture folder "which is actually named "texture.aa", and pasted them into the recipient's texture folder. Then, since there was no texture.cfg file, I copied the one over from the default FSX B737-800 which reads this:

fallback.1=..\texture
fallback.2=..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture
fallback.3=..\..\..\..\..\..\Scenery\Global\texture

I don't know if this is right or not, but the recipient's main texture folder is just called "texture" so I am not sure what I did wrong...
