VICTORY! :ipepsi2:

Well, Ro, you get the magic cupie doll! :medals:

I got rid of all the cdp files in my objects_dp folder- 344 of them- and presto- no CTD or freeze up!

I think I am a happy guy.

I will run a couple of more test runs just to make sure it wasn't some kind of fluke. But I don't think it is.

Thanks,:ernae:
MR

Disregard my last! :(

Its still happening. When I went back and tried again things were back to "normal"- weird.

Whats is interesting, sort of, is that the time that it didn't cause a crash it first incurred damage- caught on fire- from another nearby object exploding. This gave me hope because in the past- prior to deleting the CDP files- even indirect damamge was causing CTD. But this one particular time it didn't and I was able to then shoot directly at it without a CTD.

I ran at it again this time shooting directly at it right out of the shoot. Result CTD.

One last time I once again deleted all CDP files first and then made another run directly at it. Again result was CTD.

I really don't see much of a pattern other than it consistently gives me a problem. ;)

Sorry to dash hopes!

MR try editing that dp
Boxmaps.3 that 4 looks out of place, all the other boxmaps have negative values, I dont know what they do, but that 4 leaps out at me.

and dont forget to delete the cdp after the edit.

try it and see

Hiya Simonu! Didn't see you tucked away in there!

I will quickly make that change and see what happens.

Stand by.

That was it!

Aaaahhhhh!

Hehe, funny how such a minor thing can cause such relief and happiness!

Thanks every one- TARPSBird, Dirtman, Ro, Rhumba, Wolfi- for the attention and input on this.

Here is a screeine showing what happiness looks like!

Simonu- once again- You are DA Maaann!

And Wolfi, this screen shot doesn't begin to capture just how good this small factory really looks when it blows up. Its a great combination of effects!

MR

Cheers for the screenie MR. I'm 200 miles from my desktop so no playtime for me. I'm glad to be of service.

I like it when things are looking good :applause:, the factory at the right site looks like a place I'm working at

Phew, well done boys! I have a feelin' MR will be blowing that little factory up for the rest of the night!:salute::ernae:

Looks Like I'm Late For The Party

Hi Guys,
I just wanted to add that I also was having this issue. Before leaving for the salt mines today (where I'm at Now) blew this cuttie up and got the ctd.

Really though this is a very good thread. With the information simonu supplied, the numbers that were changed by him are the system id tag. Got that over at Calebs.

These are from the small factory dp near the beginning.

[SYSTEMS]
system.0=%system_name.0%,700, -1
system.1=%system_name.1%,700, -2
system.2=%system_name.2%,700, -3
system.3=%system_name.3%,700, -4
system.4=%system_name.3%,700, -5

How they should have been referenced by the [BOXMAP.X]

There are some other inf scenery objects that are giving me the same grief as MR.
So that being the case...now I have some added trouble shooting information. :ernae:

Hi Guys!

Well for some unknown reason, shortly after my last post, our entire little back country neighbor hood lost power. When it came back up, my router/modem (6 years old) was not longer functioning. So after some troubleshooting I finally conceded that a new one was in order. I bought a new one at BestBuy and just now finished getting it up and running. Phew!

Yes, I was tired of its smug little face, sitting there, challenging my manhood. Daring me to launch my missiles! It will pay for its insolence! :D

Yes, as a matter of fact, I think perhaps I may also have some additional as yet to be pin pointed scenery objects that I suspect are not quite right. Now that I know what to look for it will be easier.

Do you have any particular ones in mind dvslats? You can PM if you prefer.

Thanks Dave,
MR

Oh Yeah, you bet. Just can't remember where. :sheep: (crs)

Really though, it is a pier layout, concrete, with Pen's LSTs, some crates and oil barrels...somewhere in...me thinks in the Solomons. I'll be able to find it shortly, so I will get back to you on that Chris.

One major question still bugs me, the .fx files. Maybe someone can give me a "absolutely" answer on this.
If the .fx file is missing in ones Effects Folder and an aircraft or scenery gsl object calls for it in the .dp, will this also cause ctd when the damage starts taking place?

Looking through my objects and aircraft damage profiles I can see that there's several mia's.

That is what made the problem we were having here interesting. At the very beginning we determined that I was missing the fx_burningoil.fx. Problem solved we hoped.

Once this effect file was located and placed into the effects folder we were expecting the CTDs to stop. But the CTDs didn't stop due to the yet to be discovered missing "-" in front of the "4" in the dp file.

So we didn't really determine which problem: the missing effect target of the call out or the missing "-" was actually causing the CTDs or whether together they did.

A quick check on your question would be to lose that fx_burningoil effect again and see what happens.

Good evening,

I was having the same problem here, but I remembered the thread. I'll make sure that I put the revised .dp file in C.A.I. / Chianti.

Inf_Large_Pier

Hi All,
I finally was able to isolate the CTD that had me going in post #33. It was a crowded scenery so it took a bit of Dick Tracy"ing.

I not 100% sure why this cure works, but I'm guessing it was a combination of .fx's being called that will induce system damage along with the order of which boxes eat up their damage points first. There are no real systems that can be stringed together for an inf .dp. At least none that I know of. Infrastructure .dp's from the stockers are a bit of a mystery to me.

Wolfi's original .dp worked fine, until a string or salvo of 60 kgs or higher was laid down along it's length. This was the situation that caused a CTD for me.

After going through 250,000 metric tons of ordinance :mixedsmi: in testing, the one attached to this post has prevailed....so far.

If anyone here has some time, please give her a test run on your rig. Just delete all of the .cdp files in your OBJECTS_DP folder after dropping this one into it.

Till Later, Dave

You must have a medal for being the first person to blow up that factory and carry on flying.LOL PMSL ROFL.
