• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

  • Server side Maintenance is done. We still have an update to the forum software to run but that one will have to wait for a better time.

Need Help with HTML codes in posts

Mick

SOH-CM-2025
HTML is turned off in my permissions, so links in my posts don't work.

I don't know how to fix this.

Mick when you create a post or edit a post look below the editor box and see if the box in Additional Options is checked. The option is Automatically parse links in text.

If it is not checked you get this.

Hmmmm...

That block is checked in this thread.

But when I went back to look at another thread where my links were dead, the block was checked there too.

Curious...

Still, thanks for mentioning that - I'll have to remember to look at that when I post links in other threads.

Remember that all of these special functions like pictures, links and youtube videos are all created in the forum software with Forum Tags.

For a hyperlink (web address) it requires a url tag.

All tags have an begining tag and an ending tag. All tags are enclosed in brackets.

The opening tag would look like this [tag]

The ending tag would look like this [/tag]

None of the tags would use the word tag I just put that word there because if i used a real tag you would never see it as the forum software would try and process it.

For a web address change the word tag to url and that is the tag used to make links.

If you ever have problems with the forum software just edit your post in advanced mode and choose Source mode from the options above the editor box. Its the first button with the A/A symbol.

In source mode you can see all of the text including the tags. You can manually add the url tag to the post and it should work.
