Need Help

I Cannot figure out how to fix this problem. On some A/C I get a 3/4 screen view with no panel. Also the game and a/c wont start and I cannot use any view keys. I put this a/c in a fresh install and still had the same problem.
Ive got it narrowed down to addon panels, for some reason they stopped working, thats a ton of panels..........any ideas?

Not being real smart computer wise, I'd just replace all the add on panels with the original and proven panels and then, one at a time, put your replacement panels back in. That should identify the culprit if it is a add on panel problem.
 
Im pulling my hair out!! Even if I delete then reinstall the panel it doesnt work. Its like the game itself isnt reading the panels anymore, I cant find anything wrong with the panels themselves. Were talking a lot of panels and customized stuff over the last 10 years, its a nightmare!
 
Try hitting the W key and see if it changes. I've had that issue myself for a while now and usually resetting it with W key works for me. Hope it helps you too. Might even have to cycle it back and forth a few times.

CFS2 Default Panel

Emil,
It maybe your settings in the default_panels.cfg file in your root CFS2 folder. I attached one that works okay to compare with. Remove the .txt extension if you want to replace the one you currently have with this one.
 
Thanks for that and the panel. I switched em out but still wont work. Heres another oddity, I picked up the panel you sent me but was made for another of Kwags p40s, it has the same bitmap name and it works, but the one you sent me is the one I have and it doesnt work even though its the same bitmap name. Ive got about 5 hours into this now and have tried everything I can think of. I also lost panels on all my Mossies and who knows what else. I was thinking possibly theres a gauge they all have in common that might cause this but I can get the gauges to show without the panel background but cannot get the panel background to show.

I'm stumped.....

However, your textures are showing poorly also in your pics. I think maybe trying removing some scenery add-ons that you may have installed, or swapping the scenery.cfg with a stock CFS2 one to see if it helps. Another possibility is your settngs (or need a driver update) for a graphics card.
 
I was past stumped hours ago, I put in a fresh install and that didnt work either, played with ALL the settings and everything else I could think of. Its weird its just some panels but cant narrow down what could affect so many of them, gonna try redoing the gauges next. This really hurts.....

I noticed wierd slightly off colored squares showing in your first pic on the runway? Do the textures still show this in external view?
 
No, it has something to do with the screenshot program I used, I have the game cranked up high for the eye candy effect.
 
What vidio card are you using ,,, My ATi card has a window,s setting to allow DXT textures ,,, found under Display/ settings /Dx3d/properties/
check to see if enabled on an Ati card
 
Thanks Sarg, digging into that now, I have an ati hd radeon 3650 256meg card on the computer with the problem. the other computer has a older nividia 256 and that one doesnt have the problem. Its GOTTA be the video card settings. No DXT enable box that I can find..............

Really not cognizant with the real inner workings, but are you sure all the panels were for CFS2? I have seen that screen shot (just instruments) in some other panels but not sure of which ones they are. Maybe a added on panel has a changed bitmap setting somewhere and is effecting all the rest.
Just a thought.
 
Ok thanks all, Ive given up on it for now, spent hours trying to figure it out and as much as Id love to have this working on my better puter the copy on the other puter works so Im not going to sweat it out(as much) trying to fix it on this one. Its probably something with the video card and I spent an hour just looking for the dxt enable on it and where to find it. Ill wait till I stumble on it sometime.

Hi Emil,
I think Oglivie is on the right track. As you said you have everything cranked up high. Try going to CFS2 default screen res of 1024x768, put all in-game settings to standard, and see what happens.
Don't forget that CFS2 uses so many different tex sizes that maybe you've exceeded what some of the sim tex's can stretch to?

Also did you update your graphics card drivers and or Catalyst Control Centre before the problem?

Tried that also, its odd that theres no panel showing, 3/4 screen with black on the bottom and the game wont play along with not being able to use any views unless I open a new window but then the planes engine wont start..........some addon panels work some dont, ive compared working and not in detail, properties etc etc etc and theyre all the same or as they should be. It even happened on the stock stuff, corsair no working panel, hellcat works fine.
