Well, I walked away from this scheme a little over a month ago.
Picking away at this one a little more.

This particular scheme, the nose, a real PITA getting things aligned and into proportion.

More work on the engine shroud. Wrapping the peeled effect over the top.

That is absolutely one of the best paints I've seen put on a helo......never cared much for the AS350, but with paints like yours and jeansy, giving me second thoughts.

That is one very good reason to buy the AS350, a fantastic paint job OleBoy:applause::applause::applause:.

Thank you for your hard work.

Bruce.

Thanks my friends. I'll keep plugging away at it. And hopefully finish it. :wavey:

The only thing about this repaint I don't like, is that the paint is physically falling off this bird. Why is it so much work? LOL!

Outstanding! I dont fly choppers much, but this is making me reconsider that!

Thanks Kevin.

I've painted a lot of models for flightsim, although helicopters I always avoided. In most cases, they're mapping nightmares. This particular model represents some great visuals. Especially in DX10.

The bottom of this bird is paint peeled to beat heck.

From my screen shots the repaint looks like it could be done. I still have a lot of work to do (sigh) :)

The right side, bottom just completed.

Rotor Blur

I just painted the rotor blades. I was wanting to edit the blur and add yellow bands. After opening them I'm finding that the rotor blur files are stripe-less. I have a general idea how to create them, but I'm wondering if there's a faster way than trial and error by drawing circles?

Update OK, I attempted the standard-type test of opening the blur files that reside in the default texture folder, and copied the blade into it. Scaled it to 512 and added 3 more blades for a total of four in a "plus". I added radial blur, then saved (in my repaint folder) as BMP. Then imported the alpha.

When I tested to see if it worked, no blur was visible. So at this point testing the Spec will do no good (I think it won't) Can someone tell me what I need to do to get the blur to have the matching stripes?

I finally got to the point I could finish the eagle.

All the layout is in the final stages. The "peel" is finally completed. I'm glad that part is finished.

The next phase will consist of shading, highlights and tonal adjustments to make the peeled look appear to better represent a 3D appearance. Still quite a bit to do yet.
