I building another pooter. Got some of the hardware in today. I was wondering if any of you guys have brought any of the high end DDR3 yet. The ones I got today are double the size of the DDR2, has anyone see this. I should receive the rest either Friday or Monday. The only things I am updating is the memory,motherboard and processor. There is nothing wrong with the system I am using now other than it's almost a year old

. Don't usally keep one that long...lol. Looking forward to playing with the new 45n processors.

What parts are you using?

I didn't know that DDR3 was twice the size of DDR2. Haven't bought any DDR3 yet.

I've considered building a Core i7 rig but I saw in a post somewhere that Ted said to wait until February so I'm waiting to see what's coming.

One more question if you don't mind........ Can you just plug in your existing RAID 0 hard drives and go or do you have to do a whole new OS install when you change motherboards?

Hold on and I will post a shot of the DDR2 and the DDR3. BTW...yes when you replace the MB you will have to reactivate Windows. I do a format anyway..Mike

Yeah, those ddr3's are huge! What specific brand did you get, I just finished my first build and used 6 gig's.

I got those Corsair HMS3/DHX 1600MHz....2 2gig sticks ....those heat sinks are huge too...I wonder if the DDR3 put out a lot of heat. The MB I also order said these will work fine with this board and OC well from what I read.

Joe I was looking at your memory...aren't they bigger than the standard DDR2 ? I've never used DDR2 RAM. The new computer is taking over for my circa 2004 e-Machines Athalon 3200, which used one of the older types (I don't remember).

My case has more that enough room, so the size was certainly not the issue. I still have room for 4 more HD's, and 2 external drives. Plus, the case does'nt look ridiculous.

And now fully integrated at the desk. My old computer on the left will now be a Chart/ Manual Viewer, and to run Team Speak on. I eventually plan on getting a touchscreen monitor for that one, so I won't need an extra keyboard/ mouse sitting out.

I'm using the same kind, I'm assuming this is an i7 build, what mobo did you go with?
