New C47 from Manfred Jahn

Manfred's C-47 is a thing of beauty, but yes, it does use the stock FSX DC-3 VC. Yes, that means that most of the wing aft and inboard from the port engine is missing, the port propeller rotates backwards and the starboard engine and wing don't exist from the VC view. I hope that Manfred or someone will work with Manfred to correct the VC as it is the only fly in this bowl of soup. Well done, Manfred, it's beautiful.

What a great model, thank you Manfred! :applause:

The default VC isn't really a problem for now, though I wouldn't mind seeing a new one in the future. With Marvin's textures the stock vc will improve quite a bit too.

the port propeller rotates backwards

They do both rotate in the same direction on this model (At least in exterior view mode.)

and the starboard engine and wing don't exist from the VC view.

No issue for me as I don't spend a lot of time in the wrong seat looking out the window to see what's happening behind me. I find it difficult enough to fly while looking forwards anyway. ;)

Yes, from the exterior the props rotate in the correct direction, it's the stock FSX VC view that still has the port prop rotating backwards.

Have been in touch with Manfred, and let him use the improved interior for his future projects, but I will upload here when I get a chance to package it all up. This is not really that great but much better than defalt. Not a whole lot you can do with MS paint. Manfred will be changing the color on the exterior wing views from the cockpit for his other projects.Just give me a day or too and I will package it up!!!

Hi Manfred.

Great looking repaints. I realy like what you did. Outstanding work!
Looking forward to some VC stuff.
One thought to consider regarding the liveries: go easy on the panel lines. Don't put it on too thick.

Cheers, Rob

Go right ahead Markus! No need to ask! I was hoping for you to do something for her. Isn't there a RCAF version also that's got your name on it?

Mike Flyboy: Hi! if at all possible, yes. Textures will have to be reduced to 1024 though, and that takes away some of the good things.

Great!
Thanks a lot, Kumpel! :jump:

A decent RCAF paint of course will follow, but I think Joe McBryan (and some other NWT cargo haulers as well...) has a more desperate need to get this one added to the fleet.

Just mopping up the paint shed...

First shot...

Man - I hope I can figure out on how this whole specular stuff works...
But I think the white top / bare metal USAF scheme is something to orientate on!

MS Paint is horrible. Have you looked at GIMP or Paint.NET? Both are freeware and have far more features than MS Paint.

F-8C

Better head over to flightsim.com and pick this up . We all know how his Connies/C-121's turned out , outstanding ! You can never get enough DC3/C47's . When your out of DC3/C47's , your out of transports . (Just like F8 Crusader's right ?---out of F8's ,your out of fighters :icon_lol:) <<<<

I was an F8-C Ordnanceman (gunplumber) with VF-24 (65-67) on USS Hancock/Bon Homme Richard (Bonnie Dick). Between VF-24 and Brand X (VF-211) we got over 13 Migs during our
Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club cruise (Viet-Nam).

The F8 was indeed a true gunfighter....

@ Huub:
OY-BPB and the BBMF of course are top-candidates for further repaints, but I think I'll better concentrate on "transforming" the versions I've already done for the MAAM Goon.

I'd highly encourage other repainters and paint-novices to start with this gal!
This paint kit really is easy-to-use with no hidden mapping issues or scaling tricks.

Being a FSX paint novice myself, I gradually begin to understand how this spec thingie works:

Compared to the MAAM Dakota, the nose cone section is a pure pleasure to paint, and thanks to the paint kit, the "non-bare-metal" parts are much easier to be done (no photoreal background to mess with...).

Here is Marvin's textures on the default DC-3 VC plus C-47 wings and engines (two). This was easier than expected. Still have to get the landing lights to work, and then will upload.
