New C47 from Manfred Jahn

Bonjour "Diver",

As Huub mentioned and probably most of us would, there aren't many clues as the install went OK for most of us...

But I've been pondering your problem and am wondering whether "the book is there, somewhere in the library..." but you can't see it yet.

1. Most installs recommend that you shut down any working program, including your Microsoft Explorer (in my case). Not doing it will most likely result in the plane not appearing in the schedule before you close it down and re-open it after...
Do that now !

2. Go to your "Sim-Objects/Airplanes" and look through your schedule. You should have a Douglas DC-3 in the list. This is the basic DC-3 that came with your FSX program. Above the Douglas DC-3, there should be a Douglas C-47 if the install went through OK ! That's Manfred's work of art...

3. Open up FSX and change planes...
Instead of scrolling down all thoses planes that you've probably got stached in there, select by "Aircraft Manufacturer" (one of the three options offered above the scrolling panel" and select "DOUGLAS" !

4. You will be faced by a selection of all the C-47 (if the install did work) and DC-3 from the original FSX program install. Since most Douglas have a definite family air and to facilitate recognition, a big purple square with C-47 in black lettering has been added to the thumbnails of the two original planes by Manfred Jahn.

Try this out and see if it works. If not, we'll ponder some more ... :ernae:

Thanks for the picture from the MLM in its new livery. As you are close to the source could I ask for a close-up picture from the squadron logo?

Currently I am working on the X-8, how it looked in 1961 when it was used for VIP transport. It is very similar to the ZU-6, however it had a day-glow nose and band around the fuselage.

After that I might do the X-5 in MLM livery (So like it looked before it was resprayed). As I have the camouflage scheme I think I will do a MLD version after that one.

As it isn't that much work I most probably do the MLM C-47 in its new livery as well.

And somewhere in between I think I want to do the original PH-DDA, from which I recently found a picture.

Plans enough, but now I just need to find the time....

However, probably already brought to your attention, the roundel on the starboard side is mirrored (as visible in above image).

I'll have a look tomorrow. I think there are some close-up pictures. No pictures yet of the whole plane completely assembled. But I might have those in a few weeks...

The next one.... the X-8 was one of the C-47s which was used for VIP transport.

I ran into some limitations of the texture lay-out, like the cowl flaps textures which are used on both sides of the engine. The X-8 had a large part of the engine fairing painted black, but there is no way I can do this on this repaint. Therefore I have to search for the best alternative.....
