During WWII several Dutch squadrons flew with the RAAF. The RAAF allowed the Dutch to use their own national markings. I want to do one of these. After that it is a small step to do a RAAF C-47 in standard scheme. I have also been looking to a post war low-visibility scheme C-47 from ARDU-RAAF.

For the time being I have finished this one to play with. It is the C-47 from the Dutch Military Aviation Museum in Soesterberg. This aircraft was received from the Royal Danis Air Force and was painted in the colours from the X-5 as it looked while it was used at Biak Dutch New Guinea (Currently Irian Jaya -Indonesia).
There are some small differences between the Museum's C-47 and the original X-5, but I tried to keep it as close as possible to the museum's one (including the black interior).

wow, that one is fantastic Huub. Almost looks real, just like I remember her from the museum. Can't wait to fly it.

Just some proof I have really started...... actually most of what you see was already done for the X-5. I just changed the colours and added some markings.

As usual I will do one thing every day, so it might take a while

nice work :salute: but i can see why that scheme never lasted beyond the test phase in real life, its horrible im glad they reverted to the old scheme

There was however a bloch 220 with a similar painting.
These airplanes flew for the Vichy government
in the unoccupied France from 1940 to1944.

What was your reason for choosing KG587?

Just curious. I very recently spent some time with the real KG587. Was not that familiar with the DC3/Dakota/Skytrain before that. Remarkable piece of machinery.
Another question. I cant quite figure out what you all are doing here. Are you building skins for video game/flight simulator aircraft? If so, very impressive. Would love to see the KG587 in RAF Market Garden invasion livery.
Also if so, could you provide me some basic info on what program I would want to get to fly these planes.

Hi Bob,

This is a forum where people who "play" with Microsoft FSX meet. FSX is a flight simulation game (sorry guys!). In which you can make virtual flights. FSX offers the possibility to add thing. There are people who make models which can be used as so called "add-ons" in this program.

There are people who do this for free and there are people who sell their add-ons.

Making a model is quite difficult. You ned to sculpture the model, program animations, program a flight model (behaviour of the aircraft in the air), etc. As FSX (the tenth version of this Microsoft flight simulation program) offer many possibilities, models for FSX are complex to built.

There are also scenery builders who make models of airfields etc. Again you have people who do this for free and companies who produce commercial products.

You will also find repainters here, who make images (textures) which fit the models and provides the model a different livery. Most repainters do this for fun and offer their products for free.

Sim-Outhouse is a forum where developers, repainters and users from all over the world use to meet to discuss new products, old products, or just things which cross their mind and have something to do with virtual or real aviation.
