New Carenado Archer is up

I feel that I have just bought the same model as the FS9 so that I can have bumpmapping and self shadows. Im glad i have as it does look great with the FSX features. Guess it depends on how much that is apprechiated.

Thanks gajit. I believe I'll stick with my FS9 model, on this one. I think I've put a bit too much payware into my hangar recently, so I'm trying to avoid duplicating models wherever possible. Unless of course the newer version is a VAST improvement.

That is interesting as this is supposed to be a whole new model from scratch. Guess their source material for textures/references is the same.
 
It is a brand new FSX Certified model. The biggest gain will be frame rates and smoothness IMO. Any additional 'eye candy' is simply an 'extra' IMO.

I highly recommend anyone who has the ability to purchase an FSX Certified model, even if they had the FS9 model, to do so, as you be much happier with the experience overall. I have repurchased a few Carenado FSX models as they have become available, and have been happy with each of them as the performance is just much better.

If it is then it does not show. And you cant even open the small pilot window - just like in FS9.

Dont get me wrong - I love it but it is what it is !!
 
As I stated above, there is a big difference between an FS9 model and a Certified FSX model within FSX. 'Eye candy' not included.

Maybe I am going to start taking flying lessons (real) in an Archer and I was looking for one for FS9/FSX.

So far I thought the DreamFleet Archer for FS9 was the best choice (I have their Baron and was awesom).

But I saw this one, can someone tell me which one would be better? I don't really care how pretty they look but if the check lists, start up procedures and flight parameters are realistics.

Both are realistic in terms of procedures. Not sure if it matters to you but the current Dreamfleet model is an Archer III, which has the switches in a different location (overhead). It has that "new plane" smell, which the Carenado doesn't.

The older Dreamfleet Archer II can be ported into FS9. It's a classic, though the VC isn't quite up to modern standards (2D panels are great).

The Carenado is a beautiful visual model. Some of us (myself included) are concerned that it may be too pitch-sensitive. But I'm a nonpilot (with limited right-seat Archer experience) so take that with a grain of salt. Pitch sensitivity can be adjusted via the aircraft.cfg if you like.

I had a Cherokee for 16 years and flew other pipers like this one and the Lance. All Pipers need to have their trim set just right before take off and for landing . I have not ried this model but I do find with other Carenado Pipers are not "very" real, but it could me a matter of what your PC looks like.
 
Although I don't actually own the FSX model I did notice, whilst browsing the Carenado site, that they appear to have released a patch for it. Let's hope this isn't a repeat of the Seneca (three patches in less than a month).

The patch corrects these issues:

- Fuel pressure indication.
- Fuel selector.
- White navigator light on the tail.

If you prefer, just download again the package from the link you got after your purchase.

You don't need this patch if you downloaded the package after August 26th, 2009 1500 GMT
