New Computer

Hi Guys.....just bought a new computer, new for me, at least. It has an intel Celeron dual core processor, 1.6Ghz, 1 Gb DDR2, Sata II harddrive, with an XFX GeForce 8600 GT, 512 MB, DDR3, dual link, dual DVI. 20"widescreen monitor as well.

Will this machine and graphics card handle everything CFS2 can throw at it? I'm going to load XP Pro 32 Bit into it.

Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. Just made a big move from Alberta to Ontario. Had to.......most of Ontario now lives in Alberta.

Thanks for the help:jump:

Alpha your processor might be a little slow for some of the missions with a lot of planes and scenery. I am using a dual core 2.00 ghz and I still take a big fps hit with some missions.:wavey:

Yeah Olaf, but you can't over look his GC - "XFX GeForce 8600 GT, 512 MB, DDR3". 512 mb of integrated video memory can compensate nicely for an overworked processor. Also, another question is the load of "silent" background programs and services active. A newer system typically will have fewer programs installed than a used computer, so there will also be fewer services and programs running in the background.

Welcome to the forum!

And although I can't really help you... I think I may as well give ya a good welcome... your drinks tonight are on me! :costumes:

alpha 1, As previously stated, I would see if you can upgrade your CPU to at least a 2.0 Gig or more if the motherboard will handle it. Additionally, one of the most reasonable system enhancers is RAM. You have 1Gig, I would double that. Your graphics card is great at 512Megs. Also, your vid card is a nvidia geforce, they are really excellent at overdriving without damage to the system or the card. Riva Tuner 2.09 software if you can find it. the 2.11 is not as user friendly for overdriving.

Another thing that works out really well for my PC is PCI fans. I ordered two from newegg and installed on either side of my nvidia vid card to keep it really cool. I am overdriving it big time and only hitting moderate heat at really high loads of graphics.

Cooling you main CPU and graphics CPU are a must for serious gaming.

Your rig will run CFS2 just fine. I just retired an old P3 866. Ran fine but the image quality sliders were turned right down.
