Any suggestions on what to put into a computer for hardware to get FSX running really well?

Reminds me of the old Danny DeVito movie, OPM aka other people's money!

What's your budget? Everything else works from there.

The old question, how much do you want to spend????

I've finally finished (for now) my 'Godzilla' box which runs FSX very happily averaging 45/50 FPS at nice high settings.
Probably double up on RAM in a few weeks, along with some O/C tweaks, and I highly recommend the BenQ, at 120Hz it's a big plus.

Mobo: Gigabyte G-1 Sniper 3.
Chip: Intel i7 3770K @ 3.5Ghz
RAM: G.Skill 16GB DDR3 PC17000 RipjawsZ
Graphics: 2xGigabyte Geforce GTX690-4G D5 in SLI
Hard Drives: 2xOCZ Vertex 3 SSD 240GB + 2xWestern Digital 1TB VelociRaptor SATA-III
Optical Drives: LG Super Blue + LG Modisc Blueray.
Case: Cooler Master Cosmos II.
PSU: Corsair AX-1200 1200W ATX 100% Modular.
Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100.
OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64
Monitor: BenQ 24" senseye3 LED @120Hz.

Overkill comes readily to mind!!

How about this:

Why not build your own???
I've always done so for the past 10 years.
It suits me to keep my older box up and running while I build a new one as money becomes available.
It might take several months (Godzilla did!) but you can add newer components if and when they are available.

For that sort of price you can start with an Intel i5 3750k, an ASUS Z77 Sabretooth board and (IMHO) one of the best 'bang for buck' cases, a BitFenix Shinobi XL.
A few weeks ago I built one up for a friend with this base.
That chip is third generation Intel and the 'k' suffix indicates that it is unlocked, I like the Z77 Sabretooth so much that I'm seriously considering replacing my Sniper 3 with one (just the best Mobo I've worked with!!) and at just A$179.00 the Shinobi XL is packed with high end features.
This case will take the longest graphic cards on an XL-ATX format Mobo, two 360mm radiators, and comes with dual 230mm and one 120mm fans.

FWIW the unit in the advert has a several less than desirable features, the graphic card is (for FSX) obsolete, both HD drives are slow, DDR2 RAM (DDR3 is the standard), and no mention of the case or Mobo.
If you build your own rig then you can choose the best parts that you can afford, even if it takes you several months.

I ordered the one above. It's built locally and they give a three year warranty - something I can get fixed locally and that's hard to beat. This place built a computer for me ten years ago and it would be still running if my gandson had not gotten a virous on it.
