New de Havilland Sea Vampire F20 (freeware)

SOH-CM-2024
New Sea Vampire F 20 for FSX acceleration.
As far as I know it has never been modelled in flight sim, That's not surprising as only 18 were ever built.
The Navy liked them but did not use them in front line service due to their restricted range.
There is also an AI version.
It’s now available at....

Sea Vampire ? Does it mean this plane can be used on aircraft carriers ?
Thanks a lot anyway, I love this airplane :)

Fully compatible with FSX carriers.
Line it up with the catapult on any carrier then press Shift+I and the bridle will show, then press Shift+Spacebar and your doing 120 knots in about three seconds!

You sir, are a prince!

THANK YOU!!!

I have so been hoping the navalised variant would materialise. This makes my day (and dulls the ache of waiting for my other naval dream beauty, the Flying Stations Bucc to come, hopefully another week or so! :jump:).

Yes, as Andy points out, Eric Brown did make some great firsts in this aircraft. He was also heavily involved in some bizarre "flexible deck" experiments - Vampires sans landing gear, landing on rubber decks ... :mixedsmi: Just stumbled across his book at my local library "Wings on my Sleeve" - a reference to where RN pilots wore their wings on their uniform:

http://www.amazon.ca/Wings-My-Sleev...2091/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324316551&sr=8-1

There is extensive coverage of his assessment of the naval vampire, and of course a host of other types (virtually every operational military aircraft of the 40s and 50s). Great reading - not the rollicking story telling of some authors, but clear, factual, first person account of his experiences as a test pilot. I personally like his style, and heartily recommend it, especially to those of us with the incurable naval aviation proclivity.

Anyway - can't wait to try this when I return to my sim pc - but had to say a quick thanks Rob - much appreciated. I also hunted around your site, and saw the FB 5 coming update - eagerly awaiting that too. Superb stuff!

cheers mates,

Daniel

I see the Sea Vampire in the AI section, but not in the flyable models section. I'm going to snag that Shackelton....I've seen it in screenshots from various people, but didn't know where to get it until now. All of them are very nice looking models.

EDIT: Ahh, never mind, I see it on the home page. I was looking in the Jet Downloads section for it.

a fitting home for the Sea Vampire ...

... RNAS Ford - sweet!

What a gift to have a beautifully rendered RNAS Ford, with Attackers and Sea Venoms on the flight line. Christmas indeed.

Haven't checked out the RAF fields, but do yourselves a favour and check out the scenery section - some gems there I hadn't seen until today!!

Rob, thanks again!
