Greetings my fellow SOH members,

I am delighted to announce the release of the first book in the “VIPsimmers Guide” series.

The book combines Flight Simulator Entertainment, Historical Education, Geographical Exploration, and Community Engagement, into a meaningful aviation-related experience that will keep you flying, exploring, and learning, while providing a whole new way to enjoy FS2020 and FS2024.

In this inaugural volume, travel back to the days of WW2, and follow in the footsteps of the young men who became pilots for the RAF, RCAF, RAAF, and RNZAF. Use Flight Simulator to enjoy elementary flight lessons similar to theirs, and master the aircraft they trained on using recommend add-on choices.

Then, build your flight hours as you visit (and fly from) the sites of more than 90 wartime training locations across Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Check out the included airport profiles, many of which have original WW2 photography and charts. Record your progress in the provided Logbook, and celebrate your promotions in the optional online VIPsimmers Squadron.

What a brilliant idea. I tried to purchase the book, but it keeps getting stuck at the "Choose shipping" If you know how to get me past this, please PM me.
 
I purchased the book, and it came in a couple days ago. It is nicely done with a spiral bound format. I think this book would especially be a wonderful addition to the WWII warbirds community.

The book is designed to allow you to go through pilot training during WWII. You have three choices of countries. You can be Canadian, Australian, or New Zealander. You will fly the airplanes (in most cases) that were used by your country’s air force. In the back of the book are pages where you can log your flights.

Reading Vipgroup’s words brought me back to when I first soloed in 1967. I remembered the excitement and nervousness of flying solo for the first time. I also remember how disappointed I was when my girlfriend, who was at the FOB, didn’t see me solo because she was too busy “talking.” 😊

The book’s concept reminds me of a virtual group of Alaskan bush pilots I was in, back in FSX days. We would take on missions and fly them, then report back. This concept is similar. You start out with ground school and finish by receiving your wings.

So, if you are into reenactments of flights, or just want to support a fellow SOH simmer. I recommend that you purchase the book. It is cheap, around $15.00 USD. That is cheaper than most add-ons. Besides he promises two more books. One for the British and one for the US. Each will bring you through your country’s WWII pilot training program. If we don’t buy enough copies, he might not follow through on the other two books.
