New Flight Simulator out... Micro Flight

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
I was reading through the French magazine Micro Sim and found this...

A Flight Simulator is now out that is running, selling, and is totally different from X-Plane and Flight Simulator. There are 3 versions of it, Micro Flight, which is a flight simulator, Vehicle Simulator, which is ships, cars, and planes, and under water world complete with fish...! And Virtual Sailer which has ships and boats, (and tons of them... tons... )

Hard to believe. I might have to check it out. Some of the planes look brilliant, but the stock interior of one plane looks very spartan, but has a complete VC. Also, one of the planes is an F16, so I wonder if they have weapons?

Aircraft Simulator called 'Micro Flight' features addon scenery and aircraft just like FS;

Vehicle Simulator; (has ships, submarines, underwater world, as well as planes and automobiles..)

You can make your own planes for it; details webpage;

And last but not least, Virtual Sailer;

I wonder if Mathijs has seen this at Aerosoft. With some mild improvements, this would go to FS quality very fast.

I've had Virtual Sailor for a few years now, and I must say its lots of fun. Mostly cause I used Submarines and dive down to the wreak of the Titanic every so often. Its a long way down!

Intresting find Bill. I am downloading the demo now, I´ll fool around with it tonight, they sure have all the tools (freeware) to make scenery and planes alright......neat.-----------FS13??????? or What?????:pop4:

Hey I just tried this thing....Neat!!!!, here is an example that with some refinement Many, Many serious Software Outfits Can Make a FSX15!!!! or whatever and Better than what we fly Today........I always said the MS Aces were sorrounded by an Aura that was just Marketing by MS and themselves.........Oh, boy, we are going to see some dam good Sim (s) in the future alright...........download the Demo......

Neat but not new. It's available for quite some years now.
We've been toying with it back in 2003 IIRC together with AvHistory to see if it has potential. Lacks a bit on the graphical end but has some nice FM features.
We actually ported our old CFS2 Swordfish over to it, should be available from the microflight site.
Don't know if it's still the case but back then the models used x files, 3ds files or appropriate formats created from either of the two forementioned formats, making it fairly easy even for Gmax users (with a bit of hand editing to the x-file, using the FS2002 gamepack along with Chris File's plugin which's name escapes me right now to capture the x-file) to get content into the Sim.

Glad to see you checking this out. I had seen this Sim but had not paid any attention to it......but it sure has potential if some coals would be poured into it, or something similiar. Like I said, here is a good example that MS is NOT the only one who can make a Good Flight Sim.....boy If I was only 29, I sure would takle it.....money for a good try can be gotten anywhere, that´s the easy part....:pop4:...In July I am going to Italy, there is a group that is working on one..very hush hush, and I´ll be given a demo since I know the developer, you never know from where the next great Sim will be from......

Not really new ;-)
Ilan Papini started his series with Hangsim, a pretty crude hang glider simulator, and improved from there on.
Always has remained pretty 'cartoonish', but like Austin Meyer, it IS a 'feat' to have done all this one his own !

Don't see it as any 'Plan B' for some time to come, even less than X-Plane.

Thanks Francois for the heads up. I didnt know that. I do remember the hang gliding sim. I had the demo. It has come a long way.

If only a sim maker would make a sim that could use models made with the tools we are used to using, or something quite similar. Blender was radically different, so that kind of closed me off from XP9.

If only....

I am eyeballing rise of flight. Just waiting for more to get it to see how well my system will run it.

I got Virtual Sailor. Real fun when you crank up the waves to 25-50 ft!
Used to love going thru the canal with 20 ft waves in the small speedboat!
Had a (or the one above) version of microflight several years back.
Speaking of cows, Looking Glass's Flight Unlimited III had a scenery editor in which one can place cows, (or UFO's) and plot a path for them to travel.

Yes, I hear ya, Bill !

Here's another new sim for you.. this one is REALLY brand new !!! :wavey:

Oh yes! Waiting on that one Francois! Should be awesome....!

Roger that. I had the demo for Virtual Sailer. Awesome sim. Superb water modelling and sounds.

I had Flight Unlimited 1, my first entry into sim flying, and I loved it. I wished it had the ability to keep flying in a straight line instead of looping the scenery. Great scenery though! Really impressive. I also liked the FBO with the birds and plane sounds in the background.
