New FSX style textures to use with Rhumbas CFS2Tropical landclass ...

I've recently uploaded a FSX style texture set to use with Rhumbas old "CFS2 Tropical Landclass" mod.

Based on Dvslat's FSX pacific texture set that used Aime Leclerc's excellent freeware FSX textures as a start point ...

...but now all the add-on airfields need reworking to match ...

Of course, now all the excellent add-on airfields stand out like a sore thumb.

But be patient, we can improve on that ...

UncleTgt,

Very nice! :ernae: Doing a little flying over Port Moresby, are we?

Nice UncleTgt

Hi Uncle Tgt,
I'm glad to see you took these to the next step. Getting the " b " 's done. :applause:

Pen's fields do show the most clash. But a little twidleling with the alpha in his .bmp seems to set them straight.

I still have a lot of miscellaneous land and water class .bmp's but no real time to mess around with them lately.

If you want, I can shoot them your way. :ques:

I've done all the AF Port Moresby airfields, have sent PM to Pen32win for the OK before uploading.

Looking at Xavier's complete EAWWII package with a view to using similar techniques with those airefields.

Water textures (I think) are Pactex 2 ACM mix - loaded them into my cfs2 ages ago & they've stayed like that ever since.

Look in cfs2 scenery mods & you should find the textures to use with Rhumbas old CFS2Tropical Landclass mod - certainly changes the look of SEA ...

Still waiting on a reply from Pen32win re. the airfields ...

Meantime I'm playing around with Xavier's EAWWII fields ...

... then dvslats mailed me some more FSX style textures, so those manchurian/ Mongolian airbases may get a revamp after all.

thanks, i played around trying to make a new pacific water set but the pale parts are too hard to integrate with some gradiant. yours look nice.

I like the way these airfields look and would like to try this design method myself - is there somewhere a tutorial or something that can be studied ?

Thanks,

Airfield Design

Roger Wilco 66,

Maskrider posted a great tutorial here in the archives.

Search for the author's name: Maskrider in the drop down search menu.

Update: It seems to be missing, but if you send me a private message (PM) with your E-mail address, I'll send you a copy of mine.

In case anyone is using the FSX style darker green textures & now has airfields that stand out too much ...

Waiting on permission from Pen32win for his PNG background bmps

OG NEI airfields (Java Ports) being worked on as we speak

Xaviers fields need a rework - that'll take a while, but it can be done

Maskrider thoughtfully coded his field so that where they call for background bmps, they'll take them from the main texture folder.

Now this means there's a workaround, that won't turn your whole world jungle green.

So long as you loaded his fields as a separate scenery, you can pop in texture bmps into the relevant texture folder wherever you need them. The sim will always look in the texture folder for any scenery set, & only go looking in the main texture folder for those called for that it can't find elsewhere.

For instance, Maskrider's Ambon Laha uses 006...bmps & 047...bmps.

The first picture shows it uing the Stiz Pactex 2 textures in my main texture folder.

The 2nd folder is after I copied 006b... & 047h... bmps into my Maskrider DEI/ Texture folder.

Hey presto! now blended with a darker green.
