A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery Add-Ons

Description:
SW Korea Bases

This scenery pack contains 22 redone bases with 25 runways in Manchuria, North Korea and South Korea circa 1950-52

These bases were created using the visual layout and airbase.dat info of the “Fox Four” team’s work. http://simviation.com//lair/cfs2kmain1.htm IE: some are concrete and some dirt runways. Some are located in Manchuria and North Korea, but most are in South Korea. (More data about locations of additional N. Korean bases would be welcome.) Some are in forests, some bases are in urban areas and some are in clear or partially clear terrain.

Shadow Wolf 07,

Many thanks for your outstanding work on this, Shadow Wolf. Korea stretches the abilities of CFS2 to its natural limits...jet-on-jet gunfights!

Shadow Wolf,

Great Job and thank you. They really look great and work well in my new missions.

Exactly what the doc ordered!

A million thanks Shadow Wolf!

Good looking airbases were needed badly in the Korean theatre!

:applouse: :encouragement: :icon29:
I can't wait to install them!

Cheers!

You are welcome

Talon: there have been a few changes since the beta set I sent you a week and a half ago. I recommend you uninstall those and reinstall with these. Mostly I renamed them all so they would line up together and in alphabetical order in your drop-down menus in Free flight and Mission Builder. That will make them easier to find and recognize. A few were re-textured so the runways and taxiways sat more evenly on the cleared areas.

Some of the runways are long - for bomber use. Some are dirt and some are concrete. I put in trees where the underlying textures showed forest terrain and grassy buffer zones were they are in or bordering urban areas.

If anyone has coords for additional bases - especially in N. Korea or Manchuria, please pass them on to me.

Shadow....

THANK YOU!!!!!!!

I tried to cut my teeth in learning scenery improvements on these bases and all I did was really screw them up (copies of course)!!! I have somewhere a listing of NK bases from the Korean War but will have to look for it as I had saved them on a stick drive.

Again THANK YOU!!!!!!!!! Urban renewal was sorely needed on those bases.

ADDENDUM;

Found some but you may already have these;

.....I had a large listing but will have to really look for that stick. The ones I sent were the ones readily available on my "C". Will look for more info later.

Talon.........

..I have been gathering alot with the aim to doing just that but I am starting to find I am better at seeking than doing. Am willing to try if and when I have time and a clear head.

At last! These new Korea bases looks just great. Thanks! Have to play the Fox Four campaigns again after having installed these..

More to come...

In case you were wondering, there are only a few Manchurian and N. Korean bases in this pack. You may want more targets so... I am currently working (albeit slowly) on a strictly Chinese/N. Korean set. I will call it "Red Star" bases. I have already finished 2, one in the PRC (People's Republic of China} and the other in the KPDR (Korean People's Democratic Republic). Thanks to Fibber, I have some sites with locations and even one with Google Earth pictures. This pack should be out in a couple of weeks or less.

This project truly gives me something to do and helps me maintain what little sanity I have left. :)

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Scenery Add-Ons

Description: This scenery contains 6 new bases with 5 runways in North Korea, circa 1950-52, intended to augment my first Korean War set, "SW_Korea-Bases". This set of North Korean Bases for CFS2 was created from real world coordinates elevations. The runway and taxiway layouts were taken from overhead imagery but the hangar and other structure’s layout is fictional. Each base has separate hangar and maintenance areas, a functional refueling point, fuel storage tanks, troop billeting areas, HQ/command and control area, and an ammo/weapons storage facility. Trees were placed in areas where the CFS2 map indicates “forests”.

In addition, many of them have prepositioned FLAK emplacements. I leave it to you, the user, to place the antiaircraft guns and parked aircraft. The bases are done in GSL so all objects are destroyable.
