New Harrier Model

I just noticed something in the news section over at AVSIM, that Wilco are close to releasing a Harrier for FSX:

Looks rather interesting, though it looks like there is no Gr 7 or 9, just Gr1, 2 and a Sea Harrier. I think a lot of people have been waiting for this.

Wow! This one came out of the blue. I prefer the earlier Harrier variants ..and a SHAR is the icing on the cake. I'll eagerly await some reviews on this.

Any Ski-equipped carriers coming down the FSX pipeline? :jump:

I think the Royal French Navy Etendard better watch out with a SHAR about. I must re read Sharky Ward's book on the sudject!

Ian.

theres actually a cople of new ski jump models in the works, Invincible class and Queen Elizibeth class (CVF) in Stovl configuration. Amongst many other royal navy goodies :jump:

Wasnt expecting this bird to be around till Razbam got round to it, which as I understand is planned but way down the pipeline from the AV-8B's. Be a couple of weeks before I have the time to fly anything but it will be on my to do list when she's released.

Looks a quite well done model; but there's a howler of an error with the engine intake..
the Pegasus don't have a pointy / round cone at centre of the fan; the intake is shaped to almost touch the fan face; and the boundary air doors are missing.

'Flight International' did a reasonably good cutaway..have to have a rummage and find a linky...

here you go; all GR1/3 and FRS 1 were same

I know the Harrier intake is quite a complex structure (spent 3 months rebuilding one back in mid 1980's after a birdstrike went through it ... XV809)
and I can't model 3d for toffee; but where are the beta testers comments on this?

Is it just me or do those screenshots make it look plasticky? There's no signs of wear or weathering either. Today's payware should have more detailed textures.

I think I'll wait for the other harrier...

"other Harrier" ... spill the beans please do.

Not trying to diss anyone with my ealier post; but when one has been involved with Harriers from 1981 thru 1987 (FRS.1 'entry into service' ; Falklands preparations and recovery; and then the phase 6 upgrades to the GR3's) I do notice what's wrong;
I'm patiently waiting for that other combat sim version to see the light of day; might get a decent FRS1 /GR3 model then.

Looks pretty good, although the nose of the Sea Harrier looked a bit odd until I realised that they haven't painted the black tip properly - it should go all the way up to the pitot.

It's still good to see a UK harrier and the earlier marks being made available for FSX. Hopefully they've cracked the VSTOL though.

RAZBAM's is definitely on my must-buy list having seen what they did with the A-7, but this one might be worth a punt too.

We're doing one (Milviz) and so is Razbam... Ours is the Harrier Av-8B II and the Razbam
one, I believe, will be the Av-8B II + Super Harrier.

I do not know when either will be out...

This is the only Harrier package for FSX that'll feature the older UK variants...unless some other dev has one squirrelled away :)
