I've been trying to find out a little bit about "Fightin' Gator", which caught my eye immendiatly.

No claims to 100% accuracy:
200 combat missions without a mechanical failure and it looks like it's pilot Fred Varn at least up until a few years ago was enjoying life somewhere up near Ickie's neighborhood.

Figured it might be a Florida thing with "Gator" in the name.
