New Junkers Ju-87g "Tankbuster"

The G-1 modelfile seems to be an updated version of the basic D-3 .mdl (same texture mapping). The D-3 version's LOD's can be edited with Martin Wright's 'mdlcolor' utility.

Hi OW! :wavey:

My question remains the same: where is the model blurred prop disc mapped to in old Alpha models? When I look inside the \texture folder there isn't a dedicated texture file as in all other, and Alpha's more recent, models.

There are a number of Alpha's planes I'd like to see my prop disc on: their Douglas Boston, their early-war RAF bombers, their Ju87D-3 and now G-1 just to name a few.

I have never been able to find where the blurred prop disc is in the texture files.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :santahat:

I don't believe that the prop disc is texture mapped at all, I doubt it. Whether this could be scasmed in, I couldn't say, seems possible but I sure as hell couldn't do it. :icon_lol:

Hello Kelti,

Oldwheat is right, there is no texture bitmap defined in the texture list and vertex list for the prop spin in the model (That explains why there is no bitmap for it in the texture folder). The material list appears to be the only way to edit the appearance of the prop as the model currently is. However, looking at the model scasm I found these materials for the prop are also used for other parts in the model and this will effect those other parts if changed.

A new material just for the prop can be added fairly easily to the model with scasm. Adding a prop spin texture for a bitmap to the model is much more envolved and somewhat complex editing of the vertex list (which is the mapping coordinates for the drawing, lighting and texture. This is somewhat much more complex with scasm editing). I read the readme from Alpha and I gather that the model could be modified, as a freeware it is unsupported by Alphasim.

Below are the current LODs in MDLMat that are used for the prop spin, and some other parts as well (LOD 1 is the external mdl and LOD 2 is the VC):

LOD 1 21
LOD 1 35 ;also landing light lense
LOD 1 36
LOD 1 37

LOD 2 54
LOD 2 63
LOD 2 64
LOD 2 65

I think I will tinker around somemore with the model eventually.

Cheers,
O

Thanks for the info, Oldwheat!
I do not have the mdlcolor utility (I missed it somehow).
Will get it dl'd.
