New MASKRIDER scenery install

I just got done installing the newest MASKRIDER sceneries and ALL required object packs and mesh. Everything look great, especially Nabzab, my favorite place.., except somethin's wrong with Peleliu.. There are buildings in the runway and the coast doesn't match up.. The airfield across the channel looks fine.
I seem to recall having to do something with Peleliu in the past regarding this problem..

I deleted all previous MASKRIDER scenery installs including what was in the GSL.man regarding MASKRIDER sceneries.

So what might be the problem here??

Thanks Chris

I'll have to think on it. I remember there was a bit of an issue but don't quite remember what it is. Its comes up whenever new airfield is built on top of a stock CFS2 location- instead of on "virgin" territory. Have to check my install.

If I may...

Hi guys,

I had recently run into a similar situation while updating and cleaning up a PTO install of mine.

The culprits were the two scenery's, mr_micronesia and mr palau. (the api mr_micronesia)

My fix was deleting the GSL.bgl's and excludes from the micronesia pak, some were in the MR Micronesia folder with others in the CFS2 root Scenery folder, and re-installing mr_palau.zip that has files of the same name.(the conflict) Also the gsl that was not showing for me. The mr_palau.zip has all the goodies I needed.

Not knowing which scenery's you have installed RAF_Swede, this may or may not be the fix.

Here's a link to mr_palau.zip. Take a close look at the Readme.

Mask can elaborate more on this as I have just this personal, maybe unique, situation. :salute:

Hi Guys. Thanks Dave for helping to clear this up. This thread has got me thinking that it is high time for me to try and make some sense out of what are essentially 3 categories of MaskRider scenery. First there is the stuff that was built that was built strictly for the stock CFS2 install. Second, the stuff that will only fit with the Rhumba mesh/masks install. Third, the scenery that will work fine with both.

I mean it, I am so happy that you jumped in on this because I was really not looking forward to opening up this can of worms.

To begin with though, lets deal with RAF_Swede's Palau/Peleliu issue.

Dave, what you suggest should clear up the building- the stock building and objects- still being there in the middle of the runways and where ever.

However, the shorelines that don't might be another matter. RAF_Swede, did you install Rhumba's mesh-masks? If so, then the shorelines at Peleliu will probably not fit the MaskRider Peleliu scenery. That's because Peleliu was strictly a swap of one set of runways and scenery objects for another with no attempt to rebuild the island itself in G2K. Therefore, only the stock beaches/shorelines "fit".

If you could post a screen shot of what it looks like it would be very helpful.

Ok, I found a copy of mr_Palau and I remember now installing that long ago. I had those .gsl files in the CFS2\GSL folder and 'removed' everything that was there that had to do with _mr sceneries, which was all there was anyway.

The Palau readme made perfect sense and I believe that will clear this up, so I added the LIT .gsl's to my active _mr scenery folder, then...

I opened up GSL.man and tried to 'ADD' the two pelelui .gsl's I got this error message..

"Access Violation at address 004362D1. Read of address 000039D7"

I have no idea what this means..

Anyway here is some pics of what I have now.

I do have a copy of my original CFS2.GSL in a folder

Should I put the original back in and start over?

Thanks for the help

I do have the DEM8 MESH installed
I do have the WATERMASK files installed.

Edit: never mind on the error.. dummy me I had CFS2 running...Duh..

Here is a pic after installing the _mr_Palau pack

Ok, what you have there is Rhumba's mesh and water masks, stock shorelines (with a custom texture I believe), the stock runways still showing, and it appears that there is also maybe Pen32Win's update to the stock fields that included refueling- the yellow square at the near end of the stock runway.

MR Palau/Peleliu was built for the stock watermasks and stock shorelines. Here is what Palau should look like: Angauer, Peleliu, Ngesebus Island, Peleliu

First off try moving whatever folder you have the Palau Pack loaded into to the top of your scenery library list.

I have a feeling that far more folks besides you, RAF_Swede, experience the same visual oddities.

Heya dvslats and Chris..

Ok, looks like I fixed it.

What I did is, remove

MN_Angaur_Island_GSL
MN_Ngesebus_Island_GSL
MN_Peleliu_GSL
MN_Peleliu_GSL_Excl

from the general population (main _mr scenery folder) and use the _mr_Palau d/l, (which have the same .gsl's as above), choosing the LIT .gsl's, as it's own stand alone scenery. Then, in Scenery Library I moved _mr_Palau just under FS2000_props at priority 2.

I seem to remember that most local type scenery, like airfields, should be between 'Airport Facilities Data' and CFS1 Library..

Don't really know if that is best anymore.. Maybe you could take this opportunity and shed some light on this..

And 'MESH' type stuff should be at the very bottom.

Well anyway all is good so far. Thanks so much for the replies:salute:

Oh yea.. That yellow fuel box was Steve McClelland's adfuel scenery for stock airfields. :)

Oh BTW Chris. I think you mentioned this somewhere that a DEM8 d/l was corrupt.
That is true. The DEM_18.zip has one bad .bgl out of three. Do you know if this will be corrected? Or does it matter?
