New Materials for English Electric Lightning [UPDATED]

Great news. It's always nice to see this kind of interactions between the devs and the community.

Progress Shots of Dave's work. All WIP. These are not my textures. This is the result of applying material settings in a given way. This model can now be painted in any finish from Dull matte to bright glossy or given a metal finish in any degree. It will react appropriately. Dave is VERY talented in texture work. He was also very gracious during the time spent refining the model. The T5 looks awesome! Can't wait for release! I HIGHLY encourage you to support Dave in his efforts and purchase all variants of the EE Lightning. Well worth it IMHO. Some parting shots:

I bought the F3 but not the F6 yet and now with the T5 coming, I will certainly add the latter two after the T5 is released. I am very pleased with the F3.

This will be an instant buy for myself, if it includes the T4 as it states in the AS Forum title even better.... I find the early tail/ small tank models much "prettier".

Amaze-Balls! :jump:

Can't wait! :encouragement:

Given that the lighting (and therefore use of materials) is slightly different in the more recent versions of Prepar3D will there be different texture sets (and paintkit) for the two sims?

The second shot looks as if it was a real photo, so beautiful!

I think the double seat version looks cooler than the single, with what you are showing I think I may have to get this package, not got any of the lightnings before so it will be my first purchase of them

Andy - I would imagine that a separate model for P3D with different materials settings would manage the lighting issues, rather than the textures. At least that's how I'd do it. Like you can't wait, though mine won't shine like Rick's!!

Looking forward to your textures DaveQ! The materials are setup such that you won't need 2 models for p3d or fsx. The materials support the vast array of exterior finishes via texture alpha channel combined with specular textures and fresnel adjustment. That is the byproduct benefit from setting up materials this way. It doesn't limit what can be done. Anyone's preference can be achieved. Its all done via textures.

I should clarify...the above textures are not mine. I also had no hand in them. These are stock textures edited by Dave Rowberry the developer once the materials were all setup.
