New Nvidia driver 182.06 released..

When you right click on a blank space on the desktop to bring up Display Properites, do you see Nvidia Control Panel in the menu listing?
 
Yes, uninstalled the old ATI stuff first. Installed the new Nvidia stuff next. Same procedure each time, uninstall all traces of the old installations first before doing any new re-installs.

OK. The lack of a working Nvidia control panel regardless of which driver you try could be you don't have your monitor driver installed and as such it's using the so-called Windows default plug and play driver. Open up Display Properties again and go to the Settings Tab and post back what you see shown under the [Display:] word in the middle of the applet.

If you can give me the Dell monitor model number I can link you to the correct driver for your monitor. Point being, you have to have the correct monitor driver installed for a graphics card driver (ATI or Nvidia) to recognize and enable the full functions your monitor is capable of.

Another thought - if you still have all of your Dell installation disks one of them should be for your monitor which has the needed driver. Then too, you should have received a manual with the monitor that will have the model number on it.
 
I had the same problem with no Control Panel, and on a whim I just reinstalled it right over the first install. It is all working as it should now.

Good. Look for the driver in the XP or Vista drop down menu (whichever OS you have) in the link I posted and follow the download and install instructions.
 
OK, I will try that first thing tomorrow, since is now after midnite and I am beginning to see double ! Getting older is no fun.

Ok, I stink at this comp-tweaky business, so don't stone me for this question, but from what I read in your original post it seems this driver is good for pretty much the entire series of Nvidia cards. So it should even be able to help a ge7300, or 7600 series? If not, I won't mess with it, especially if its geared solely to the latest higher end cards.

Well, I just spent about 4 hrs or so trying the new ideas and such, unintalling, re-installing, etc. and I am still back to square one. No Nvidia Control panel although all the icons/tabs are present for it. My monitor settings indicate "Dell 1707FP on Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO" under the "Settings " tab. I'm lost......:pop4::isadizzy:

I appreciate the help so far, though....
 
Maybe I can help you out, Aroth. Gulp!

In Control Panel, click on Display. You should see 5 tabs: Themes, Desktop, Screen Saver, Appearance, Settings. Click on the Settings tab. In the lower right you should see two buttons. Click on Advanced. Now you should see several tabs. Click on the tab that lists your video card (mine says "GeForce 8600 GT"). Now you should see a button that says, "Start the NVIDEA Control Panel?" Should work--maybe.

If that doesn't work, go back to Control Panel and click on "Add or Remove Programs." Scroll down until you see a list of NVIDEA programs. Mine lists the following: NVIDEA Drivers, NVIDEA Performance, NVIDEA PhysX, NVIDEA System Monitor, NVIDEA System Update, and NVIDEA WDM Drivers. Are any of those missing? If so, go back to the NVIDEA website and look for the driver for your MB. Download and install.

Let me know what happens. I will check the board again tomorrow afternoon, EST USA time. Good luck.
