NEW Nvidia drivers 260.99 WHQL 2010.10.25 REALLY MAKE FSX WORK GREAT!!

Hello Scott, and thanks for the info/link. Looks like I will be spending some time reconfiguring the PC. I ran FSX without Nhancer, or this other program and so far I am impressed by what I see as far as smoothness. I need to go on a long 8+ hour flight though to see if it really improves over all.

I can't get mine to install it says there's a problem with 7zip it's starts to unwrap then the installer fails that's with Win7 64 and a GTS250

Not much but there is some clear improvement with these drivers on my humble system with 8800GTS video card. Thanks the HU!

Cheers,
Huub
I have a 8800GT and am considering updating from my current 182.50 driver, but only if there is a real improvement. Huub, what improvements did you see with your 8800GTS?

May I ask what you did have before the GTS250 and if there was a significant difference? Presently I have a 8800GTS and the highest performance GPU in a fanless system is the GTS250....

I installed in a HP Entertainment Laptop (dv7) w/ a GeForce 9600M GT card, and I can fly most places except large cities with everything maxed out 14 to 20 fps. With the old driver, I could not even go halfway with the sliders. WOW! I'm a happy camper today!

Its so sad to see FSX still struggling after so many years, three is it??....I update drivers all the time hoping I will "really" see a difference from the previous one but maybe just maybe a very slight one appears. I really hope that a brand new sim gets done some day so I can trash FSX.....geee, with all the tech we have it is really sad to have what we have......but, since this is now, I´ll keep fooling with it, I just can´t stop making all the fun adventure flights, can I???------get some laughs soon with " African Diary", you´ll be surprised at the end...guaranteed!!

I updated my machine, which is a quad 2.5Ghz with a GTX 460 and also a test machine here (core 2, 8800 GT). Granted, our test machine had older drivers, but we have seen a huge increase in framerates for FSX. With all settings MED HIGH, we were getting in the 20-30's before, and now we're seeing as high as 60+ in the same exact scenes, inside and out. This is why we re-shot that he219 screenshot video, because we are now able to grab smooth, full screen video real time without stutters.

FSX is now really quite fast even by non flight sim standards.

Scott.

Scott, as that an XP or Win7 machine?

Paul

I have had these drivers since their release. The 258.96 drivers were the first in the 200 series that I found were superior to the 197.45 drivers I had been using. I installed right over old drivers with no problems and it make it much easier to roll back to the older drivers should I need to.

I installed the latest 260 drivers here and have had no problems, I cannot really note much difference to tell the truth.

Thanks for the NVIDIA Inspection Tool link Scott. I am sure nHancer is probably working on an interface with the new drivers. But I like the Inspection Tool, will use that and the NVIDIA Control Panel for the time being. For some reason, I can only activate my SLI arrangement in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

I have two 748 MB 9600 GSO cards in an SLI link.

Paul,

The core 2 with the 8800GT is a win7 32bit machine, and mine (quad with the GTX460) is Vista 64bit.

Scott.

I'm still trying to figure out why 7zip is throwing up a data error message on a binary file.(application exe) I use winRAR but it does not start when i click on an exe file.
Are you trying to unpack the driver? Do you have 7zip associated with exe files?
As Noddy posted have you tried d/ling from guru3d, although they are the same size files that you get from Nvidia (x64 is 128mb and x86 is 96mb) wins7 and vista.

I din't even realise I had 7zip installed, eitherway I tried it again and it worked but it has got me baffled why for 2 days it gave me that error! Thanks for the help though guys!
