A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Missions Add-Ons

Description: This mission recreates the 10 March 1942 raid by on Japanese invasion forces at Lae and Salamaua, New Guinea by the Air Groups of USS Lexington and Yorktown. The player will fly in the role of the CAG from Lexington and lead the strike.

I made this mission as historically accurate as possible within limitations of CFS 2.See README for further details, installation etc.

Enjoy and would appreciate feedback as more are in the works.

Dasuto247,

I would have thought others would have responded by now. Thank you for all of your hard work. I will defer testing to those who work primarily in the Pacific for now, but if no one else steps forward to provide feedback, you can count on me, sir.

It's good to see a new face in the mission game. Thanks for this Dasuto. When I finally get my computer back together I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks.I am sure people will give it a try, just have not had a chance.Noticed a few people have downloaded it.Where do you mainly "work"? ETO? I prefer PTO but have been wanting to branch out and try some ETO missions. Downloaded a Polesti mission, its looks interesting.Suggestions?

Very nice!

Dasuto,

let me add my thank you note. :encouragement: :applause:

I am more ETO-oriented, but I am very grateful to whoever is willing to keep CFS2 alive with new addons. Mission editing work is tedious and painstaking, I personally prefer working on the airplanes.

A new mission writer is surely welcome! :adoration:

Cheers!

Dasuto247,

I work primarily in the European and Mediterranean Theatre of Operations. I have also done some work on the Eastern Front. After I finish the scenery project I am working on, I am going through and making all of my campaign packages into auto-installers, like I did for Fall Weiss and the 20th Fighter Group.

Captain Kurt has also done a couple of ETO / MTO campaign packages. (The 82nd and 354th Fighter Groups)

Rather than focus on specific groups like he does, I prefer more overarching campaigns that cover a specific period or event. Two works I enjoyed doing were the Corpo Aereo Italiano, and the Battles in the Balkans.

Kelticheart has been looking for a "partner in crime" for a project in Northern Italy from 1943-1945. I think the two of you would be a great pair.

If you are interested in doing your own projects, I could recommend some for you...

Corpo Aereo Spedizione - I have some sources for this, as well as a chronicle of the Regia Aeronautica from 1940-1943, including data on each Squadriglia, airbase, and aircraft type.

"Repeat, Please" - Polish 303 Squadron, from 1940-1945.

Norway, 1940 - Build missions from the British and Norwegian perspectives...and include the Hurricanes of 46 Squadron. (These missions are done)

There are many campaigns from CFS1 that could also be converted to CFS2. I have a whole folder of campaigns from CFS1 for the Western Desert, Operation Dragoon, and Malta from 1940-1942, among others.

There is a way to convert them...I wrote a guide on how to do it.

Realistically, there are many in this sim who remain quiet who would love to see more works for the Pacific. One thing that is lacking are campaigns for the Japanese. I have a campaign for the Tainan Fighter Wing which is on my perennial "to do" list, and I could easily convert the missions and give you some pointers to get you started.

Great with a new mission writer

Thank you very much for sharing your work, which I hope to D/L. (I tried two times today so far, but it failed each time after nearly completing) and of course to fly it. Please go on, if you have other ideas.:applause:

Having troubles downloading it? Think it is something with the file or your pc? Anyone else having this trouble. I believe I packaged it correctly, zipped it etc. but am new.

I'll give the ETO/MTO a try flying wise, perhaps build a mission at later date as have many PTO battles to go_On my perennial to do list is late war, late 1944-end of war, especially with the Kamikaze mod. I agree and building IJN/IJA missions are often on my to do list but always find myself flying Allied side of things. I am interested in the Tainan Fighter Wing project as it is one I planned, especially in the heyday of Sasai, Sakai, Ota, Nishizawa in spring summer of 1942. feel free to convert missions and send them, will work off your pointers.

Looking for a couple of items.

Re-posted this in another thread, my apologies.

Dasuto247 NOW you keep on doing Mission for the Pacific Theater. Your project sounds great. We need More mission and other project dedicated to the Pacific Theater of war. World war two was base on world not just on the ETO. I find This Simulator fascinated because its equally dedicated to represent World war two as it really was. A world conflict and not just a European conflict. I notice lately its really turning to a another ETO Combat flight Simulator Only. We have many of those already. I like this Simulator because it representing the whole war and not just the ETO.

I just felt like I had to say what I notice lately for the good of this community.

Its not intended to offend anyone. I respect the work and talent of all those who participated and contributed to this community large and small. You have increased our collective pleasure of this Combat flight Simulator. Its intended to keep our interest in the Whole war and not in one Theater.

Thanks dasuto247, I thought had everything one could have, but guess I was wrong. I need these two items or the mission won't load.

"raf_gunner_small" and "ijn_kamikaze1939_lod". Any help locating them would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Stoney out.

The "raf_gunner_small" is for the DAVE floatplane flying around near Salamaua(and Lae later on) but have not been able to locate that bit, mission should still load without it, mine does and rear gunner will still fire.I did forget this detail in the readme so my apologies. Far as the Kamikaze_1939 LOD it was included as a zip file in the download, confirmed it is there but here you go(its the entire pack, just find the 1939 one needed) just in case.Enjoy and let me know what you think. How it went etc.

http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?action=jump&catid=66&id=764

it has the gunner.

Well I thought it was the DAVE, forgot I changed it, if has the version with the DAVE I may have uploaded the wrong file.Same mission, only difference is the PETE instead of DAVE.No error messages with PETE.

Hi Miamieagle,

I agree with you 100% a world conflict such as WWII must not be confined to Europe only. CFS2 was born with just the PTO in mind and it's unbelievable how it grew to cover the entire WWII and beyond, like WWI and the Korean conflict.

I do not agree when you say lately it's turning to another ETO CFS. If we look into SOH Library, the quantity of PTO dedicated campaigns and missions is quite large.
Our late Talon before departing posted huge PTO campaigns like the Flying Tigers, for example. AF=Midway covered the early, decisive battles of the Pacific war. The huge Defense of Australia addon was the very first I ever downloaded. The entire Dec. 7th, 1941 scenario was added by the PHP team and just about all of the major Pacific campaigns were covered as addons by a number of extremely talented folks around here.

We have to remember all of these splendid works were posted years ago, CFS2 was first released at the end of 1999. Now, if a lot of ETO-oriented material seems to have been the mainstream of new addons lately, I think it's simply a catchup over the majority of PTO addons. They were posted during the previous years, when only a scant Battle of Britain pack, a two-sided North African desert war campaign and two Eastern front campaigns were available for the European CFS2 potential.

I like this Simulator because it representing the whole war and not just the ETO.

You're right again, I fully agree with you.

By the same token, I also agree a lot with Rami's comment, subscribed by Dasuto247, about a lack of Japanese's point of view missions and campaigns in the PTO.

I think we are all unconsciously paying homage to the sacrifice of millions of young soldiers, by re-enacting virtually WWII airwar. No matter what side they fought for, they only followed mandatory orders from above. Not everyone had their head full of either democratic patriotism or world domination ideals.
I believe the vast majority of those young victims of the worst holocaust Earth had ever witnessed, given the choice would have gladly settled disputes among them with a soccer/football game, or a baseball game, or a rugby game.
Therefore each one of them should be fairly represented in CFS2.

"Least we forget"

Cheers!
