New sim new computer ?...(TPM ?...)

@Javis : there is a way to circumnavigate those pesky requirements that M$ imposes (TPM, processor, ...) and that is Rufus. Rufus is a tool that enables you to make a bootable usb stick with Windows 11 (latest build) on it. You can even keep your current regional and user settings on the new windows. You just need:

You'll probably read online about the "dangers" of installing Win11 on an unsupported rig, forget about it. M$ will never deny you updates or whatever. And let's face it, M$ support for the residential market is next to inexistant.

So download the above, so you can try before you buy! ;)

Thanks very much, Priller ! (y)

As you can see above i have chosen the easy way out. ;-)

Have to say even when i would've decided to keep my current system and upgrade to W11 i probabely wouldn't have gone the Rufus way ( Rufus was a great funky band in the 70/80's with Chaka Kahn as lead singer ;-) I wouldn't mind a challenge or a risk with any sort of program but NEVER with FS ! Rule of thumb ever since Sublogic FSII.. ;-)

Yeah, when it comes to FS i have always played strickly by the rules. I guess ( no.... i'm sure !) it must be something holy, something completely different from everything else software related.

Nontheless, thanks for the suggestion, Jan ! :ernaehrung004:

Awesome! It's always super-fun to get a new rig! I'll be excited to see the new specs.

On the new rig, if you go Intel, highly recommend i9-14900K or 13900K over the new 285K chip for MSFS. And I understand your hesitation on the AMD chips, but if you do consider AMD+Nvidia, the 7800X3D is definitely a winner for MSFS2020. (Not sure if the improvement will be as great for 2024 or not.)

"AMD+Nvidia, the 7800X3D"

That is my new build back in August and went from PCU to Commissioned Oct 15th lol. Ive had no issues MSFS2020 nor testing MSFS2024. I build my Computer around my Visual Impairment.

That's a very interesting benchmarking, Denny, thank you ! Very tempting too ! ;-)

I can choose any of the CPU's in the list together with any GPU i would like ( sjeezzz, there's one that costs nearly $2000,- ! (RTX4090 Gaming X Slim 24G)). Just for the heck of it i put together an AMD system with Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RTX4080 Super 16G, Kraken cooling, Corsair 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit and 2 x Samsung 990 Evo M.2 PCIe SSD 2TB, W11 Pro. Just about the same price i payed for my current system 5 years ago (3200 Euro).

I'll see what that does with an Intel CPU as well of course.

Still thinking about it, expensive toy, but i sold my car *and* my boat so i have a bud of a bitget, uh.. bit of a budget. ;-)

Thanks much again, Denny ! Not an easy task with the truckloads of items to choose from (i counted about 50 computer cases to choose from and to begin with...) but it's great to have some insight in the most important things to start with ! :encouragement:

Sounds good, Javis! I know prices are higher there than in the US, but I would look at the difference in going to 64GB of memory vs. 32GB, given that it looks like MSFS 2024 will take advantage of that extra memory, and it's listed as the "idea spec." Even if you needed to drop the speed to 5600 to save a bit on the RAM, I think the extra memory will add more than a small percentage of RAM speed would. The extra memory will give you more leeway if you end up running any utilities/stand-alone add-ons with FS24, and also just makes the system more future-proof because I'm sure by the time 2029 rolls around there will be plenty more ways to take advantage of a 64GB rig.

Thanks Denny ! As a matter of fact i have 64GB with my current system. Did that because memory was quite cheap here 5 years ago although i knew FSX/P3D didn't care much about it. Difference between the two: 125 euro 32GB, 242 euro 64GB. Probabely a bit less if it comes with the complete system i intend to buy.

So, yeah, i am quite used to having 64GB memory. ;-) I'm doing all kinds of other stuff besides pretending to fly of course, even running another more or less demanding game like Transport Fever 2, and then much to my surprise, because i completely forgat about it, seeing on the task bar that MS2020 is still running too ! (not really flying, just the main menu after having tested something, but still ! .... ;-)

Not decided just yet, still sitting on the fence, but ready to jump in !

Thanks again for helping me decide, Denny ! (y)
